I have suddenly discovered that I can no longer copy and paste an image. I have checked and I can copy and paste text just fine. Why no longer images?

I click on the image and click "copy image" ...... but when I go to paste it, nothing appears.

Help you lovely techie people!!

There are a couple of ways of doing this. You can press the "print" key or take a screen shot, paste it into a word document and cut the picture down to size. Or, if you are on a windows computer, you can press the windows key and look for a programme called "snipping tool" or "cut out and edit" (sorry, mine is in German and I don't know what it is called in English). This lets you mark the picture you want to copy and drag it onto a screen where you can play around with it.

There are probably more professional ways of doing this but these methods usually suffice for me.

What device are you using Sparklefizz and where are you trying to copy and paste the image? If it doesn’t f d anything to paste it sounds like the image hasn’t been copied successfully.

If I want to use an image from my camera roll in a Word document I use the ‘insert image’ function rather than copy and paste.

I'm using my laptop and wanted to copy an online image and paste it in an email, which I have successfully done many times before .... but somehow it isn't working any more.

Oh, now this is weird because after typing the above, I tried again using my usual method, and this time it's worked!!!

Thank you Blossoming and JackieB for your help.

I think they are getting wise to images being copied online and have put a function which prevents you right-clicking and 'save image as'. I usually do a screen shot (press PrtSc key on a computer) and then paste into Word or Publisher. Then crop the image to size. No-one can stop you doing a screenshot!

Thanks Chestnut.

Are you talking about images you have on your own computer or ones you download from the Internet?

Some on the Internet are protected so you cannot copy paste them.

You can sometimes get round this by saving the image as a jpg. file on your own computer then inserting it where you want it, as you would for any other image.

If it is a photo you have on your computer from your own camera or phone, then using the save as image menu in Word stores the picture in a smaller electronic format which facilitates sending it electronically, and does sometimes make a difference when you are trying to insert it in a document.
