Help Using Panasonic. Convector/Grill /microwave NNCT57JM

It doesn't seem complicated. Press the Convection button once or more times to select the temperature.
Press the time pads to select the length of cooking time.
Press start and the oven will start heating up
When it beeps and flashes P put the food in.

Hi.
I just wonder if anyone can tell me how to use the convector function of this oven. My friend has the instruction booklet and is totally confused .We are no slouches when using new equipment, but this has us totally beat. Any help would be very gratefully received.
