Our BT guardian landline (9 months old) does an intermittent beep till we pick up. Very easy to save or delete messages. The main reason we bought it was because it stops all nuisance calls.

We have a landline with an answer machine, it has been invaluable for medical appointments.

This is a link to my phone, a BT Freestyle make. You may find it or similar cheaper elsewhere. But this Amazon link details all the functions, including an answer machine in the base unit and a flashing light to alert you to a message. It’s a large button phone and hearing aid friendly. I’ve had it about 14 years. There were 2 in the option I chose and I have one at my beside.

I haven’t had a landline for years but when I did the tone on lifting the handset was different if there were messages. Don't know if that is still the case.

I also have a Panasonic- no problem as others have said, a light flashes. Very easy to delete calls.

Our handsets have a light that flashes for missed calls and messages left. It’s not very old.

We keep forgetting to check our landline for messages. I’ve set up a daily reminder on my mobile and iPad.

Years ago we had a landline with a light that showed when any messages were left but it’s not easy to see with online pictures and nothing said in the blurb.

OH is waiting to hear from the car insurance people re our stolen car and I’m waiting to hear from the hospital and various tradesmen about renovations etc.

Hopefully once everything gets sorted some brain cells will magically regenerate!
