Some children aged under 16 will be at home on their own during the holidays and I don't think it's possible for parents to be able to police what they are accessing.

What is needed is tighter regulation and the shutting down of such websites.

No but the online world is far too dangerous for a youngster. They will have access to everything evil in the whole world alone with them in their bedroom. There are predators out there who target youngsters sexually and some truly terrible things happen, including suicide. So I stand by my belief that under 16 should never be alone with technology in their bedrooms. That is the one place they should be safe.

No child under 16 should have any technology in their bedroom.

Is that written on stone somewhere?

Let's hope highlighting it will do some good, but sadly, the people who need to know this are probably not listening. There have always been parents who let their children have TVs, smartphones and internet in their bedrooms and I guess there always will be. No child under 16 should have any technology in their bedroom.

You should be aware if your grandchild is using Omegle – It is an unmoderated online video chat site and primary age children in local schools have been reported using it.

is an article outlining concerns, particularly that predators have been known to use Omegle, so please be careful.
