Does anybody know about Smart Meters?

I don’t use a lot of electricity, so my daily display is usually under £1. However, the last three days it has almost doubled, and is sitting at 97p just now. I haven’t used dishwasher or washing machine, and no appliance is ticking away in the background. Have electricity charges gone up massively in the last three days?
I am loath to call Scottish Power, as I can’t be a*sed trying to explain it to a half witted adviser ( and I know they’re not all half witted. I used to be one!)

3G smart meters were installed between 2011-2019 and are due to be phased out by 2033.

By which time they will all be between 14-32 years old and probably due for replacement anyway. All smart meters installed in the last 5 years are 5G compliant. www.pleaseconnectme.co.uk/blog/3g-smart-meters-how-to-upgrade/
