Locked out of Facebook/messenger/m eta whatever it's called

I don't understand why I've been locked out on my ipad but not my computer. I, too, spend too much time on it, but I do need it when I'm away from home, especially for messenger. I've done the photo id thing but that doesn't seem to help. Googling says thousands of people are locked out of facebook every day.

I've apparently been hacked on Facebook too. I tried resetting my password but went down into a whole Warren of rabbit holes. I eventually gave up, but what I don't understand is that none of it, the hacking or the need to reset my password applied when accessing it on my laptop, only my phone. So I've deleted the app from my phone and confined myself to using the laptop for FB. I was probably spending too much time mindlessly scrolling anyway.

I'm scared that, if I try to sort it out on my ipad I'll lose the computer access to it, too.

Yes, me too. I think I shall leave well alone and just use the laptop to access FB.

Completely locked out of it now as one of my friends reported that it had been hacked, even though I wasn’t sure if it had been. Still have it on the computer but not sure if Facebook are going to remove that, too. Apart from gransnet it’s my only contact with the outside world. Not sure what to do next. Don’t seem to be getting emails either…

I don’t think I’ve been hacked. Just somehow got myself locked out. It’s happened before. I wish I wasn’t such a technophobe. Or didn’t have quite so many passwords.

I was hacked a couple of years ago, almost certainly when I used
Unsecured internet at a Greek airport. Arrived home six hours later to find threatening emails on the we know everything front. I couldn’t get into my fb account as the hackers took it over. I tried young people, two local iPad repair shops, I wrote to meta as did family .
I started a new account altering my name slightly
I lost all the messages from the time my husband died
It’s a strange thing to do isn’t it- entrust so much on line

MayBee70 why don't you ask them to check it out for you and you will cook dinner?
My son and family are often up for this sort of "bribe"

My cooking skills are even worse than my technical ones!

😂😂😂

Chocolate?

I can access it on my computer but not my ipad. I depend on messenger when I'm away from home. It happened last time I was a way from home. I realised that because I'd written something down to help me get back on when it happened before.

My messages on FB keep getting encrypted and I've no idea how to read or retrieve them.

Yes, asking a grandchild is a good idea 🙂

I have recently been locked out of another site I'm on, but it isn't Facebook.

I know I'm not the only one and although I have tried resetting passwords etc nothing has worked.

Nothing else has been affected so I'm hoping it will sort out but I miss messaging people on there. We do become too reliant on these things I think, so maybe it is a good thing in some ways?

I’ve been locked out of my Facebook account, too. It has happened before but I can’t seem to sort it out this time. Also I keep getting emails on my computer ( as opposed to my iPad) saying that my iCloud account has been deactivated even though it hasn’t as I’m still paying for it. And that I can no longer send emails from my computer, even though I can. I get seriously frustrated by my inability to sort these things out. I need to find someone who can come to my house and go through all of these things. The frustrating thing is that I have family nearby who are experts in such things but they don’t have the time to help sad.

🙄
Good luck!

I was hacked and in trying to get rid of all the rubbish I was being sent, I was myself told my account has been disabled and there seems no way to save it.
Part of me doesn't care at all but it was a link to some folk I can't contact any other way. Also some photos from long ago.

Has this happened to anyone on here ?
Each time I attempt to go through a retrieval, I seem to go further down a rabbit hole. The so called help site is just a robot asking me if my problem has been solved.

Perhaps I need a savvy DGC on my case?
