I am doing a house swap to a gite in Pyrenees Orientales next month . I know the area well because I lived there for three years, but I want to make a trip to Barcelona. Last time I went I found it so difficult to find parking that I ended up just going up to the hill above. My daughter and her husband went when they were staying with me in St.Cyprien Plage, and they left their car at Barcelona airport and took the train into the town centre.
They advise me to avoid hotels in Los Ramblas because it gets very noisy in the evenings. They stayed in the Gothic Quarter.
Can anyone recommend a hotel (not expensive!) that is handy for visiting the historic centre - I don't mind walking but I will have a friend with me who is not very mobile.
