It is 30C outside, but the airport has a/c! Two flights down (Geneva -Heathrow-Singapore) now two more to go (Singapore - Auckland -Nelson).
I am told it is 27C in Nelson, which is bearable. I will be there tomorrow afternoon, tired but happy!
This is a free laptop at the airport, so no time to join in any threads.
Love to all my many friends - I am missing you already!

I am now at AUckland waiting for my flight to Nelson. I have been sitting outside to enjoy the sunshine. I am getting a bit quicker on the tablet and I Am now using a hotspot.. very high tech. After about 40 hours of travelling I Feel remarkably well perhaps because I will be with my family three hours from now but I Just do not seem to suffer from jetlag. I have picked up a pile of brochures of things to do from white water rafting to cruising the fabulous Milford Sound so watch this space
Ignore the odd capitals - I cannot be bothered correcting them

Morning Greatnan, bet you are there now and enjoying your being with your family. It's pickling down with rain here but, luckily, it has washed yesterday's snow away!! Bet you wish you were here grin

By my calculation, you should be there or thereabouts, Greatnan, if the journey went smoothly. Give my love to NZ and have a great time.

Marelli Thu 14-Feb-13 08:55:59

You'll be settling in with your family now, I should think, Greatnan. So much to catch up on - have a really lovely time. smile

I am tucked up in bed after a lovely meal and a bath. Tomorrow we start exploring -I am leaving the itinerary up to my daughter. She is amazed that I am not shattered!

Have a great trip Galley.
It was so nice to see all the improvements to the house and gardens since last year
I love the little plane on the last leg to Nelson with the two propellors - it reminds me of Casablanca.
The man on Check-in was 82 - it is so easy to get chatting to people here.
I love this country and the Kiwis - it felt like coming home.

Greatnan Thu 14-Feb-13 14:38:54

Sorry Gally my tablet thinks you are a ship!

Hi Greatnan - I'll be doing the same trip next week but with a couple of days in Singapore. Maybe we shall bump into each other in Nelson. We're there for DiL's mum's wedding so will see German grandson too. We've just booked for 2 nights at Nydia Lodge in the Marlborough Sound - going by mail boat & walking back to civilisation. Either it will cure jet-lag or send me into an altered state of consciousness. Son says the beaches near Collingwood (beyond Abel Tasman Park) are the best in the world.

Last time we went that way was 1998 in the pre-internet dark ages. We can't even remember how we booked things like car hire. Now with a cick of a button we do everything. We come back via 4 days in Sydney & I woke up yesterday thinking - Australia- visa - help! Thought I'd be queuing all day at Oz House but no - a free eVisa was available on-line.

Have a great time with your daughter Greatnan.

Glad you've arrived safely, Greatnan. Hope you found everyone in good shape - including your DD's broken ankle. Gadabout - what a lovely trip to look forward to. The Sounds area is very special. I'd love to go back there sometime. Enjoy yourself!

Greatnan Thu 14-Feb-13 23:55:53

I had a good night's sleep and I am now on NZ time. I had my first walk this morning up the hill through the nature reserve. The children here are very friendly and greet you as they do in France.. THey were playing in big Sun hats
but no shoes.

My daughter is still walking with a slight limp but it is now healing rapidly
She tells.me that walk in The Sound is wonderful
.
This afternoon we 're going to .my granddaughter in Nelson and taking her and her fiance out to dinner.
