Thank you, folks. Yes, the coral is still good, although I did detect some signs of bleaching in my early morning swim - it is happening all over the world. No sharks - this bit of the Gulf of Aqaba is too shallow for them, I think. I will watch out for them when I eventually go the Great Barrier Reef though! They only came to the Red Sea near Sharm , which is about 75 kms south of Neweiba, because the tour operators were feeding them - bloody idiots, it didn't help the tourist trade much!
There are only three other guests - I am afraid the shark attack and the political situation in the big cities, combined with the general downturn on foreign holidays by Europeans, has had a very bad effect on the tourist industry here.
My 7 a.m. snorkel has given me an appetite, so I have had a warm shower and I am now off for breakfast.
I left my car in an off-the-airport car park at St. Julien, where a space is guanteed, there is a shuttle to the airport, which takes 15 minutes, and it is cheaper than the on-airport parking. Amazing what you can find if you google!
