Ryanair check-in

I am trying to check in on-line for a flight leaving on 16th April and returning on the 23rd.
I can fill in all the details but now they have allocated seating so I tick the box for free randomly allocated seating for the outbound flight. It then goes to the return flight page and will not let me choose a random seat as it says they are not allocated until the 16th which is of course the day I leave. As I can't fill in the complete form I can't print a boarding pass for the outbound flight.
Has anyone else come across this lately and if so how did you overcome it ?
Is it yet another vicious plot by Ryanair to make us pay more for seats as this seems to be the only way I can get a boarding pass ?

HELP !

Probably the RyanAir vicious plot, tiggypiro! I haven't tried their check-in, because I won't fly with them, but I suppose it wouldn't work if you actually select a seat, rather than the random allocation, will it? Or do they charge you to do so?

Yes I suppose it would work if I chose to select and buy a seat.
Unfortunately Ryanair is the best option for where I am going but even then I have to drive down to Stansted othwise I would not touch them with a barge pole !

tiggy I know Ryanair get a bad press but I use them often and have done for years without any problems. Their site has improved a little I think. I've a flight to check for so I'll do that in a little while & see how I get on, I flew last month with them, had allocated seating & got boarding pass ok without paying.

Back soon.

If you don't mind rude words, you should listen to Fascinating Aida singing Cheap Flights. grin

tiggy I've just tried check in but the free randomly allocated seating isn't available for me till the 16th (I travel on the 23rd).

absent I've heard that before, it's very funny grin.

I still use them though since I visit my mother often & the only other airline I could use is Aerlingus which is normally three times the price although it is generally a calmer experience.

Thanks for trying baubles. They only allocate the seats 7 days before the flight so if you are going for 8 or more then it seems you are b******d.
I think I shall have to ring their expensive phone line and see what they say. Watch this space !

Yes it is yet another way for Ryanair to get money out of it's passengers. I have had no reply to my email and not wanting to throw good money after bad did not ring their premium rate phone line. On lots of review sites people are complaining about the same thing. I did get an email from them a couple of weeks ago to say about the new check-in rules which on the face of it is ok. What I really object to is not being able to check-in for the outbound flight without also checking-in for the return and not being able to do that unless I purchase a seat for £5 each.
One other thing to watch out for is them trying to flog insurance. The only way not to pay it is to find the 'Do not insure' bit to tick. It is well hidden in the 'Country of residence' drop down box but who would think to look there?
I just can't wait for them to fly me to USA for £10 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
