Winter sun

Thinking of a winter sun holiday in Feb/March next year. We don't want to travel too far and DH wants a promenade, plus cafés and bars within walking distance. Can anybody suggest a good resort?
Have also looked at winter sun cruises, but reviews seem to suggest seas can be particularly choppy at that time of year. Has anybody any experience of these types of cruises to The Canaries or similar?
Any advice gratefully received.

Canary islands , Tenerife, Lanzarote, Grand Canaria, can be hilly but some great walking beaches, Fuerteventura

We have stayed on all these islands during winter and the weather is warm, shorts weather, there is some rain but it soon clears.
The islands are western with everything you could want for a great time.
You would need to research the islands and towns to find one which would suit you.

Egypt is another country around 4 hours flight time, not western at all and some of the towns I would class as run down but we go to Sharm el shiekh for the snorkeling which is amazing.
