Travelling with hand luggage only

DD is taking me to the Canaries for five night, self-catering (eating out) and we're taking hand luggage only - strictly one small case each.

As I am week known for taking everything 'just in case' normally, does anyone have any suggestions for how little I can get away with?
Many thanks

Unless, of course, I wear the lot rosequartz to free up baggage space for all my purchases wink

Thank you x

I have just put back several items of clothing from the spare bed.
However, all the pairs of sandals are still there .....
I hope we can find the thingamajiggy that you hang the suitcase on to weigh it.

We have had to take stuff out of our suitcases before now and hand them back to family who were seeing us off!

Shoes- I usually wear my light Hotter shoes, for sight seeing and pack some light scrappy sandals (flip flop style) for all other occasions. x

Strappy ! The I pad knows more about my sandals than I do! x

I have thrown away underwear, nightdress and swimming costume so that I could bring some pretty dresses for GDs.

I have three weeks to think about packing for a week in Majorca. Before that I have to go to Scotland. I'm hoping that the clothes I need for each will be mutually exclusive and have two cabin cases ready in the spare room. I don't think I'll need any of my eight sunhats in Dundee. Now, where did I last see my cargo pants?

loopylou Sat 23-May-15 19:25:42

cargo pants.......now that's one solution I hadn't thought of hmm

Might need a mighty strong belt and braces too if all the pockets are filled!

grin and the X-ray machine might reveal embarrassing contents!

Mind you don't get your cases mixed up, anno. smile

Take a look at this Just tweak a few items, it can be done. All of my summer tops can be worn with any of my summer skirts and trousers, saves overthinking outfits.

Only just got back to this thread. Jane and others, I also glare at people that stuff oversized bags in the overhead lockers, there will always be some! My bag is "fully compliant" and never bulging at the seams. I am not being mean by not paying for hold luggage, I just couldn't be bothered with baggage collection, plus I like being able to handle my own bag. My system breaks down when husband takes a large bag! So in future I'll probably take a hold bag too.

rose I used to do a lot of hiking when I was younger and I think that's where I learnt the discipline of "travelling light".

That should be bursting at the seams grin

When choosing what clothes/shoes to take I lay all possibles out on the spare bed. Then prune, prune and prune again. Every item must work with the other items. Choose colours and stick with that scheme.

Just back from a week in France. Paid for one hold bag between DH and myself so just had handbag for flight. Weather was not great I have to say
( never got to use swimming costume) that we could have actually managed with just hand luggage had we thought about it more. I have to agree with Jane10 I was amazed at some of the luggage taken onboard. One man I swear was over the weight and size of bag and he pushed and shoved it into overhead locker, pity peoples bags behind his. It made me quite miffed as DH had his pipe cleaner confiscated at security (His fault, he forgot to put it in bag) but clearly this chap 'bent' the rules and got away with it. Have great holidays all....hope you have better weather in France Jane10

Liked your link baubles wish I had seen it before I went...have to say though I was a little distracted by advert underneath...how did that picture of me appear !!!!!

I have removed one pair of sandals ( the really comfy 'scrappy' ones)

The theory of co-ordination is good but I need to do a whole re-think of my wardrobe!
