I have never been on a cruise, but I wonder (after seeing a travel programme this morning) how safe young chikdren are on a cruise ship. I have image of kids falling overboard, never heard of it happening, but could it?

Oh dear, 'those types' ? Fuddie duddies ? geriatrics' .? ..why is it not ok to give a
personal opinion based on personal experience. I am neither one of 'those types' , whatever that means, nor am I geriatric, not yet anyway , or a fuddie duddie, but we were on a cruise where there were no children's facilities yet nevertheless 150 children were onboard.
Of course all children are not hooligans and all parents do not sit drinking in bars all night and I did not say that. The children on our cruise had nothing to occupy them apart from running around with groups of other children, being noisy and overexcited as children can be, and not being careful of some of the less mobile passengers. I Have no doubt the adults were enjoying the cruise but they were not with their children all the time and were unaware of what was going on at times on other parts of the ship, generally in the evenings. No doubt the posters who have taken children on cruises and enjoyed themselves sensibly used those ships which provided for children, a different kettle of fish altogether.

Oh my goodness, that wasn't pleasant at all and quite unnecessary! Talk about getting the picture! Makes one wonder if there were actually problems and ticking off and this was a way of vicarious retaliation. shock sad

Oh crikey !! And here we are in the process of planning a cruise with little ones.

In our defence , its a Disney Cruise so the children's facilities are excellent. Having said that our 2 will only be 4 and 6 so they wont be going anywhere on their own, even to kids clubs. On our watch , they're our responsibility so we will be enjoying the kids facilities too no doubt.

Ours are not the sort to run around willy nilly and upset people who are looking for a quiet time ( they don't do it here so why should they do it elsewhere?). Obviously in moments of high excitement they forget their 'indoor voices' but generally I hope we wouldn't be a bother to others.

BUT that IS why we have chosen a very child friendly cruise line.

N&G you will have a great time and it sounds ideal and clearly 'horses for courses'. Anyone on a Disney cruise will expect excitement and will probably enjoy watching the children enjoying themselves.
If you are hoping to not be a bother to others it is a clear indication that you will not be a bother and everyone will have a lovely time. smile

You made you mind up quickly btw- or are you yet another 'recycled' member with a new name?

Thanks Synonymous I'm sure our little ones can be a pain but rarely outside ( they know better :-) ) . Even my girls (30 & 35) can be quelled with a look still lol

I like you already from that list Granjura !! smile

I am sure you will all have a brilliant Disney cruise n&g and everyone onboard ,whatever their age ,will be expecting lots of excited children and be excited themselves probably. Have a wonderful time.
