Static caravan

I wanted to buy one when H was made redundant/retired about 8 yrs ago (still do) but he didn't like the idea of holidaying in the same place all the time. We couldn't afford to pay fees and go away elsewhere.

We've stayed on a couple of caravan sites in the past. Some of these caravans are pure luxury. The last one we stayed in even had a dressing room next to one of the bedrooms!

What a good decision, I can't think of a nicer place for a mobile home, Welshchrissy, it's a beautiful bit of coastline. We've had many holidays in that region since we first visited in 1975. Wishing you and your family many happy times there. Only a teeny weeny bit !

Well, we all know where to come for our holidays now, don't we?

After we left ,our site was taken over by another company and the fees rose to over £4000 . We were paying about £2700 plus utilities so you do have to use the thing to get good value. Our family didn't live near enough to get good use so it was not as good value but we still loved it and regret having to give it up.

It's on a small site sun beach run by Allens caravans and between Barmouth and Tywyn about 70 miles from where we live

Park Resorts? (or something of a very similar name)

We used to have one and we loved it. Ours was near enough to be able to use it for weekends. The site allowed one well behaved dog so we were able to take ours.

The fees seemed expensive but the site was well kept. Downside was that you had to sell through the site and they kept a percentage of the sale.

We sold when I was going through a bad patch but regretted it almost immediately.

Tanith, that's just what puts us off as well, although I have just enquired about one for sale and the seller says the site fees are £1950, which sounds reasonable, we may decide to have a trip over to view it, although it is a good few years old and hubby always says to think how many holidays you could have for the cost, our family would use it, but there is the cost of petrol to be factored in as well for them, so its not even a cheap option.

How lovely, we all love caravan holidays and have hummed and haaaad about buying one for a long time we've always been put off by the site charges I'm afraid..

We did exactly the same thing about 15 years ago * welshchrissy* not exactly on impulse but a very sudden decision. It was one of the best things we did. It is not a cheap option as ground rents are high and gas water and insurance add up but we loved it.
We had to give it up when my husband developed an illness but 4 years later I still really miss it.

Brilliant idea. Static caravans are such fun. Camping with all mod cons.
