Train to Paddington , Why so much slower?

There was a collision between a lorry and a railway bridge recently I think - are they working on the bridge by any chance? Is that causing a bit of a delay?

Is it because of the time that you want to travel? Some trains are slower than others.
The journey time may be longer on weekends and holidays.

Could just be that it stops at more stations.

Are there any ongoing engineering works meaning that trains need to run slowly along some stretches of rail?

I have got a feeling that they now allow more time at each station for people to get on and off.
