Our 50th Wedding Anniversary was on the 7th March.
I had a wonderful trip planned for us, a week in Egypt snorkeling then onto the Maldives again snorkeling.
On the 7th our anniversary we were to board a cruise ship in Male sailing from there for three weeks back to Europe disembarking in Venice.
While we were in the Maldives I contacted my daughter regarding the worsening situation in Italy with regard to the coronavirus asking her to contact the cruise line and our agent for an update.
On the 6th March my daughter informed us Costa were no longer docking in Male as the Port Authority were not allowing any cruise ships to dock.
We had had no communication from Costa or Cruise1st our agents with regard to this.
We couldn't stay longer at the hotel on the island as they were full and we didn't have time to make any arrangements as we were leaving the hotel the next day.
Our wonderful daughter took things in hand and paid for a flight back to the UK the following day, we actually had the last two seats.
If it hadn't been for our daughter we would have been waiting on the dock side with two suitcases wondering what had happened.
We can't believe any cruise line or agent could put their customers in such a precarious situation.
