Holidays anyone had one

Currently in Llandudno for 2 nights at a lovely hotel! All Covid friendly!
We had a great 4 nights in a cottage in Northumberland plus visited daughter in Nottingham! All fine as we played it safe with everything!!
A change of scenery does you the world of good!

We went on a caravan holiday in August that was booked in February. We take our grandchildren every year. They love it.
The caravan was impeccably cleaned and as the park was not fully booked it was a pleasant break.
All the facilities were bookable and the kids activities were very well organised. Probably the only holiday we’ll get this year. We’d already cancelled Greece in June and Spain in September. Not that I’m complaining ?

We had four days in East Devon at the beginning of August. No TV, radio, internet, phone or mobile signal in our cottage so therefore absolutely no mention of Covid for the duration. It was wonderful. Cancelled Croatia and off to the South Downs instead this week. Air B and B refunded our Dubrovnik accommodation booking within twelve hours of my request on their web site. Amazing service. I promptly re-booked the South Downs cottage with them. Jet2 wont refund because the flight is still operating and I cant get a credit note either. Had to move the flights to next year and pay an admin fee.

We did a week in a Norfolk Cottage in July and a trip to Devon in August. We’ve booked a week in Somerset in October. I couldn’t stand staying at home and looking at the same 4 walls all year.

Am currently in Croatia, it is absolutely stunning, the weather is a steady 26 degrees, clear blue skies, turquoise crystal clear water, and beautiful sunsets. Flight over was only quarter full, all precautions taken, no worries going through the airport. Everyone here is sensible, masks in shops and public transport, otherwise just get on with life. Spent today cruising round three islands, boat for 60 only had 14 on it, so sad as tourism is their main industry, but if you want to visit Europe without the crowds, go now!

We will have to quarantine on return, but we are retired, not a problem, and so worth it!

Off to stay in Airbnb in Somerset for a week next week. We cancelled our week in Ibiza to stay in UK. Looking forward to change of scenery the most and exploring new area. Hoping weathers kind.

No, I haven't been away at all since lockdown began. I had 1 holiday booked to France and 3 in the offing, 2 to the Isle of Wight and 1 to the Peterborough area where I go every year to meet up with a group of Open University friends.
I have booked to go to Southern Spain, near Marbella, for 2 weeks over Christmas.

Motorhome to Wiltshire just before lockdown. Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex last month.

We are currently on holiday in north Devon. We left home a week ago and spent 2 nights in South Devon and then 5 nights in Cornwall. All in hotels. There is quite a bit variation in how they deal with Covid but we’re happy on the whole. Not so happy with the way people behave on pavements or in some cafes and pubs. I’m enjoying this but staycations of this length aren’t really for me. I’m hoping that next year we can go abroad. I do realise ( before anyone reminds me) how lucky I am to be able to go anywhere.

No holiday for us this year. The deposit for the cottage we had booked for May is being held over until next year. My husband is adamant he would rather stay at home this year.

Haven’t been on holiday for 14 years... husband won’t go.... and he’s not well enough to be left alone . Been nursing him for 24 years .... I need one!

We had a family holiday booked abroad but that has been postponed until next year.
However, we have had two mini-holidays to the South Downs and the Peak District (the latter in that August heatwave!!) as well as various short trips around England. Things are not as before: we socially distance, we wear masks where we need to, use hand sanitiser, and travel off-peak. Everywhere feels safe, and if we feel somewhere is crowded we simply walk away. We’ve had long nature walks, picnics, occasional meals out and just enjoyed being away.

After months of lockdown, it has felt wonderful and uplifting to have this change of scenery and accommodation. Staying at home, within sight of household chores and an untidy family, pressed in on every side by neighbours, really isn’t the same!!

We have our own caravan. Before COVID we were booked to take the ferry to Bilbao, stay in Bilbao for a week then drive to Biarritz and stay there 2 weeks then drive slowly back through France stopping 3 or 4 times before we got the ferry back from Caen. We should have been away about 5 weeks. What did we do instead? We had 10 days in the caravan in Pevensey Bay in East Sussex!

So yes - I suppose you could say that we have had a holiday, but it wasn’t quite what we had expected!

Off to a hotel we know and like just 90 mins North on the Coast next weekend for 2nights Half board Very much looking forward to not cooking and to having a walk on a beach

I went on holiday for a week to Exeter with dh, dd, sil and Dgs. We had brilliant weather (the hot week in August) and it was lovely to spend time with family. Dh and I took dgs down to Exmouth by train and everywhere we went people were sticking to social distancing.

We are going to Warner’s at Cricket St Thomas in October and although it is very close (we live near Bath) I am really looking forward to going.

I'm very tempted to a modest European destination but the thought of the journey there and back is a gigantic turnoff for me. Sure missing my little jaunts though.

Namibia hope you soon get your money back from Skye cottages you don't need this stress on top of illness .My son is still waiting for refund from Ryanair he cancelled in May it's disgusting how these companies are treating people .On holiday front we haven't had a holiday yet this year probably won't bother now ?

Greengran. I too want to get back to Oz. Looks as if it'll be at least next summer, if there’s not another spike, until they’ll consider opening their borders to international visitors . Thank heavens for Whatsapp/Facetime etc...

I returned to UK in 2013 after living abroad for 13 years. I have not had a holiday since returning. I have not been outside my flat since I came out of hospital in February.

No, not this year.
Would love to but due to risk for hubby, in particular, and me we are prepared to give it a miss.
Giving up this year in hope of many more.

We had booked to go away on the 3rd July so it was delayed by a day but as we know the place well and were the first occupants for a few months we were happy to go ahead. It was a little different from our normal holiday in Keswick as we avoided going in to town when it was likely to be busy but we enjoyed it as much if not more than usual. We'll be booking again for later in the year as long as there is no major spike in cases.

I was thinking about maybe taking a lone trip with Shearings, or something similar, and weighing up the pros and cons. Unfortunately we have had rather a traumatic family occurrence, so I have other things to occupy my mind right now.
All I really want is to get to Australia to see my new grandson, and my 3 year old GD and my extended family out there. That’s pie in the sky for the foreseeable future though.

Not long back from a week self catering in Langdale in Lake District. Walking seemed busier than usual especially as rain had soaked the fells and everyone was sticking to walks that offered something firmer underfoot than squelching bog and mud. Felt safe except for day we walked over and into Grasmere. Hundreds of people with little evidence of social distancing and looking through windows not much evidence of spacing between cafe tables either.

Just to add, I can't fault Warners on their refunding. Had a letter saying, when your ready to reschedule just give us a call. When I did this, I was told immediately that funds had been transferred to the new booking

We rescheduled our Warners break from April 2020 to April 2021. We won't be going anywhere before then.
