What is travel?
I’ve forgotten. …

Yes, they all are - and all out of quarantine, thank goodness.

In the meantime, both OH and myself got stinking colds- but both tsted negative twice! So fingers crossed!

Will it be Christmas with the children and GCs - or in Bruges - we will know by tomorrow late afternoon.

Josianne Fri 17-Dec-21 11:34:20

I've never been to Bruges in winter but the Christmas market is supposed to be lovely.
Though I'd prefer to be with the family.

I’ve been to Bruges in winter, we went one new year. It was lovely.
Kali will you be able to travel to the UK now that France has introduced travel restrictions? Or were you going through Belgium?

Kali2 Fri 17-Dec-21 13:07:26

Going via France... yes, much rather be with family, but if we can't, then Bruges ... See how it goes.

We have made it over late Saturday- now in quarantine until we get our Day 2 tests results- we had Covid test in France on Friday evening.

maddyone Mon 20-Dec-21 18:46:29

Well done Kali.

Kali2 Mon 20-Dec-21 19:16:54

We were only able to do so on British passports.

MayBeMaw Mon 20-Dec-21 20:47:31

Well done!
I was wondering if you would make it.
Your sons and daughters will be thrilled if you can all be together again!

Kali2 Mon 20-Dec-21 20:51:01

Thanks - if ... as things can change any day. Fingers crossed.

Kali2 Tue 21-Dec-21 14:18:20

Day 2 Covid tests yesterday came back negative this morning- so we are free to go. We will be VERY careful, sticking to a few good friends in our home or theirs, and direct family, again in their own home.

Whoo hoo!!!

I'm happy I'm in the same house with DGS & DD. If we have to isolate for any reason, I'll still get to see him open his pressies.

ninathenana Wed 22-Dec-21 13:36:42

DD and partner were due to go to Spain in January. Yesterday she receive an e-mail offering to postpone for no charge. I admit I was relieved.
They are now booked for March hhmmm

Warning, the France police do visit houses in the middle of nowhere, to checkup if you are staying there as required in France in these covid times.

Our last out of country trip was Nov 2019 to Hawaii. We have been really lucky and privileged to be able to go away every winter for a week or two.

In reality, travel is a luxury that we can do without, and we have stayed within our province for two years in a row for summer vacation and visiting family. I did travel out of province late this fall to visit family on the other side of the country.

Saying that, I have several 'bucket list' places I would like to see and hope to be able to do so in the next few years. Cautious but hopeful.
