I was at Gateshead at weekend , staying in hotel and meeting friends from Durham. Never been before and set Satnav for hotel. Turned ' next left' onto a now designated Bus Lane , so now waiting on letter with Penalty fee demand .
Turns out it may have been an expensive weekend away ! ?

If your satnav is incar and not updated (mine isn’t) then new road restrictions won’t be in it. I’ve started using google maps on my mobile instead of my cars satnav as it’s up to date.
What a shame but I’m sure you still enjoyed your visit.

Interesting....... I was in the same area trying to find my way to a funeral. Somewhat lost, I 'redid' a roundabout and I inadvertently found myself in a bus lane. Quickly removed myself but not quickly enough for the statutory fine that arrived in the post very soon after. I paid up, of course but felt somewhat duped. Ho hum........

ad fervently

Sorry meant to add are you sure the bus Lane was active and you were in the restricted times. Around my neighbourhood you have to have your wits about you as some are 24 hrs some just rush hour.

There are lots of bus lanes around Newcastle and Gateshead. The ones I know are only active weekdays until about 7pm. Fingers crossed you weren't snagged.

My daughter got three in two days outside Warrington station. apparently it was a new scheme that had not been properly advertised and signed so the fines were all cancelled.

Very easy to do in an unfamiliar area.

I got a bus lane fine a number of years ago. I was driving home after a foreign holiday and hadn’t taken on board that the clocks had changed at home the previous night. My car clock didn’t adjust automatically so it was an hour out! ?
