Staying in Greece for a couple of months

Now that travelling is getting easier we are hopeful to go to Greece/ Greek islands for a couple of months. Ideally during that time we would like to invite out kids at different intervals to join us but we don’t know where to start. Travel agents .only do holidays up to 3 weeks and Airbnb have lovely places but not sure if they suit our needs, driving is not something we would like to do whilst away. Any ideas where to start

We use James Villas, holidays are from a few days to several weeks, they also tell you if a car is ‘essential’ or optional.

I’ve found air bnb great. Also join the Facebook groups of your favourite villages. Ask for recommendations for accommodation l.

won't you be a bit bored and isolated if you are not driving.
how will you fill all that time, esp in a rural area ?

There are ferrys between the island. Stay a week or two on one and then move to another. Book air B&B as you go along. Book extra air B&B when the kids want to pop over.

and lug all the luggage around ?
doesn't sound like much fun.
but each to their own.

Book your flights and first weeks accommodation on one of the larger islands, research which ones you would like to visit. As long as you are not high season you can book ferries and accommodation as you need and decide to move on. Most islands have fairly good bus services now so you can travel around without driving. I'd say stick to one group of islands though. Rough Guides is still one of the best sources of info www.roughguides.com/greece/

You can put your parameters in here.

I’m sure there are other sites, I haven’t checked the reviews.

Yes if you have a lot of luggage then moveing around is not for you. I traveled around India for two months quite happily with 15kg of luggage. Could have gone for longer but the visa ran out.

Dont forget that you are only allowed to spend 90 days in the EU each year.

Hey OP - go for it. Travelling in Greece is an absolute joy.

Incorrect it’s 90 days in every 180

I remember going on holiday with my wife, to Corfu. If you don't want to drive yourself (we just had the same story), you can use a shuttle service, we rented here atobtransfer.com/greece/corfu-airport-taxi-transfers/. Basically for the most popular destinations in Greece this service works.

Try The Lady classified Ads for nice properties or, as mentioned, James Villas.
A couple of months, 60 days, is well feasible with the 90 days per 180 in the EU.

Look at LongTermLettings website for Greece.. what a wonderful idea..

Irrespective of the rules there are 62 days in 2 months which is how long the OP is staying for.

Don’t forget to factor in extra home insurance if your house is being left unoccupied.

Jaxjacky Mon 27-Mar-23 18:12:08

I wonder how Betty got on as OP was 5 months ago.

Oops!

I'd think it quite likely that she was starting to plan last October for summer this year. I certainly plan our holidays well in advance!
