Have you got a holiday booked? Where are you planning to go? Is air travel involved or will you drive| go on a ship ? How far ahead do you book ?
I’ve just booked us in to go to a part of west Australia we've never been to at the end of August. It takes a 4.5 hour plane trip for us ( I don’t like planes ) but it is so damn big here if you want to go over to the west. Looking forward to swimming with dolphins, maybe seeing some of the wildflowers and just generally going to remote areas.

We are off touring Europe on hubby's motorbike. Our Son has his own bike and wants to see the Swiss Alps so we are travelling through France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Black Forest in Germany, on to Switzerland and then back through France visiting Dijon and Versailles - can't wait.

Arrived in Lanzarote yesterday. So nice to have some sun and relaxation. A week ago we had freezing temperatures and snow!

Cotswolds, a couple of days in March, we have friends with a converted barn up there, lucky to have had several invitations already.
Jersey a week in April
Dorset a week in May - time share in Bournemouth, where we spend our time visiting favourite haunts such as The Isle of Purbeck, New Forest and Lymington.
We'll probably be up in the Cotswolds again in the summer for a day or two .
September, maybe somewhere else in England or Wales or France, I'd quite like to go to the Ile de Re.

Dorset at Easter with DD2 and family.
Llansteffan in early June where I will meet up with friends.
Gloucestershire in late June for 5 day painting course.
Singing week in July in a beautiful abbey near me.

I do not fly for environmental reasons, and trips abroad are hard on one's own. With my assorted health problems, getting affordable travel insurance for abroad is a challenge.

But I am very happy indeed with what I have arranged - all manageable for me.

My friend's daughter has been travelling since september and when she asked if her mum would like to meet up with her in Bali she jumped at the idea and asked if I wanted to go too.I had thought after my trip to thailand last year that it would be my last long haul but at 73 the itchy feet syndrome is still with me so roll on March.

Austria.

We have booked a last minute trip to Spain next week. Based in Alicante it’s an area we haven’t been to before and looking forward to exploring pastures new.

Just back from my annual girls' winter sun trip with friends, this year was Gran Canaria.
Next up will be weekends to Lincolnshire in our caravan to visit our daughter and her family.
July is two weeks in Lanzarote with our son and his partner.
Then more caravan weekends.
New Year in Benalmàdena, then next year's girls' winter sun trip is to Lanzarote.
Working at home I've always valued my holidays!! ☀️

It's a big wedding anniversary for us this year so we are off to New York for a few days, then travelling up to Canada for another week. We do a long haul trip for each of our 0 anniversaries.
Very much looking forward to it.

Otherwise, home with responsibilities for generations both upwards and downwards! Looking forward to trips out with the Gchn.

Malta is on my 'next year' list so far.

Jaxjacky Fri 16-Feb-24 14:32:10

Another one not flying for environmental reasons.
We’re in the New Forest briefly in March, Weston Super Mare in September for a few nights and we may well book a couple more UK breaks.

Porthleven, Cornwall. Just arrived and am sitting on a bench with a mug of tea. Going home on the 16.15 bus. 😁 My idea of a holiday until I can throw away my crutches. 😂

Mizuna Fri 16-Feb-24 15:08:53

Oh and then a bit further afield to Harlyn Bay near Padstow with my family over the Easter weekend. Sharing a bed with my eight-year-old granddaughter apparently. 😃

Joseann Fri 16-Feb-24 16:02:17

I don't need any encouraging, but there are some lovely suggestions on this thread!
Dog holidays at Easter and Whitsun to Rock in Cornwall.
Then France with dog in June and September.
No dog allowed on a trip to Berlin!

Love Tewkesbury Kate1949, the Abbey is just beautiful , interesting quirky little shops and maybe a boat trip too. One weekend in June is completely wild with The Wars of The Roses re-enactment! All the heraldry flags fluttering in the streets and the magnificent displays. The town's medieval feel is enchanting at Christmas too, I visit a few times a year.

Kate1949 Fri 16-Feb-24 17:26:32

Oo thank you keepcalm. We're going in June but not at the weekend.

emmasnan Fri 16-Feb-24 17:29:07

Malta is the only thing booked at the moment but love it there, so always happy to go back.

grannyactivist Fri 16-Feb-24 17:48:16

This time last year we came home from a restful holiday in Dartmouth, only to have a house fire the following day. 🔥😱

I fled to Shaldon, a lovely village in South Devon, in the immediate aftermath as the house wasn’t habitable. I’m going back there for a week’s holiday on Monday to recuperate after my recent illness and I’m looking forward to being able to relax and enjoy it this time. A friend will stay with me for a night or two and my husband will join me mid-week.

The photo of the little foot passenger ferry was taken last year.

Nannytopsy Fri 16-Feb-24 18:13:19

We have booked a last minute week in Madeira too! Only 8 days to do the packing. It’s a holiday before a TKR, as I shall be at home for a while afterwards.

Aveline Fri 16-Feb-24 18:32:54

Nannytopsy we're there now and it's hot sunny weather. Lots of sun tan lotion and also anti mosquito stuff required. We'd not had problems with bites before in 30 years of coming here but we're well bitten now. The hotel were saying that the unseasonably warm weather has brought them out very early this year.
The place is still lovely. Carnival this week so endless daftness and fun.
Try to find this guy. He's a fantastic musician.

Shinamae Fri 16-Feb-24 18:41:02

Five day holiday end of April to Santa Eulalia in Ibiza..😎

kittylester Fri 16-Feb-24 18:54:28

Too much going on here to think about it yet - but we will fit in a trip to Suffolk to our favourite hotel if nothing else.

Visgir1 Fri 16-Feb-24 18:58:03

I booked 4 trips a couple of weeks ago.. Dominican Republic in June.
Portugal in September, Boston October and Berlin end of Nov.
I'm 70 this year so I'm going for it.

Serendipity22 Fri 16-Feb-24 19:17:20

Well... as some will know, i am offffff to the Isle of Wight. Its a coach holiday.

Last year we went on a coach holiday and it was 100% fantastic, the people onboard the coach were hilarious, we all got on like house on fire, so thats 52 people, brilliant...

And this year will be a BIG BIRTHDAY ((((( 60 😮 ))))) so I am going somewhere very special (( but not booked yet ))

Wherever everyone going for holiday.... ENJOY ... and remember LIFE'S FOR LIVING

😃

CanadianGran Fri 16-Feb-24 22:09:23

Some wonderful trips here!

Just about every summer we do a round trip around the province. taking the ferry down to Vancouver Island, visiting friends then DD and family near Victoria, then ferry over to the mainland to travel to Okanagan valley to visit more family. Then a long trek back up north and home. Luckily both families have lots of room and accept our dog.

In September we plan on visiting Spain (Barcelona area) with another couple. I'm just beginning planning and it seems a bit overwhelming, especially since it involves another couple. It will be fun, but I'm better at planning for just ourselves.
