Anyone that has been on a tui cruise with a small mobility scooter - how did it go ? Can u take the scooter into the dining rooms? How did u manage on trips ashore? MH will be the one using it and this is our first time travelling and flying with one.

I know someone who took hers on long-haul and had no problems. Enjoy your holiday.

👋 Hello, Pebbles101, I shall watch your thread with interest as DH is a mobility scooter user. We haven't cruised since before Covid, when he was more mobile, but he certainly couldn't manage the long corridors on cruise ships now. We've not taken his lightweight automatic folding scooter on a plane, not sure how to arrange that. We usually hire one in the resort and have it delivered to our hotel.

I hope some helpful answers arrive soon to help you and your DH.

Not sure about cruises but we have taken a scooter on numerous flights. The airlines couldn’t have been more accommodating. He drove the scooter upto the door of the plane they then put it into the hold. We were met of the plane either by an assistant either with the scooter or with a wheelchair. At no stage did we have to even dismantle the scooter. Assistance must be pre arranged but this is normally done by the travel agents at time of booking or by a simple phone call if you book online. An ambulift will be used if there are steps . This takes you up to the door of the plane. Please message me if you want to ask anything

Granmarie we're flying with a family member and their mobility scooter soon, first time for us and her.
I booked the flights last year and she had to phone the airline to book her scooter into the hold.
They needed to know the make, model and dimensions when it's folded.
It's free, but it's first come first served and they can only accommodate a limited number so best to ring as early as possible.
(That's with Jet2 but I would imagine Tui would be similar).

How about contacting www.mobilityatsea.co.uk/accessible-cruising who arrange scooters for hire on ships and will collect you and take you to the ship? If you use the Airport's assistance with a wheelchair as soon as you check in, would that make life easier?

Thank you, V3ra and B9exchange, very helpful.
