Seems this week's task is to produce a new upmarket biscuit. Surely we can come up with some suggestions. I fancy something oaty with cinnamon and apple!

Just heard that Tom has also just got engaged... his words were "she is a geek to" ... classic.

Tom's parents looked so proud. It seems he may have struggled a bit at school but they've obviously supported him and he's turned out well.

Elegran Tue 19-Jul-11 13:33:42

And they looked as though they enjoyed working together too - not surprising as both of them seem like nice straight-acting people, co-operating on the task instead of concentrating on how to do down everyone else.

I do agree with you Elegran - I wondered if perhaps Alan Sugar would creat a partnership with the two of them

Elegran Tue 19-Jul-11 11:55:08

Helen and Tom made such a good team on the MypPy task, I could have seen them make a success of a joint business.

Helen's change was so obviously Sir Alan based that I actually had to cover my ears and eyes. For someone who had done so well it was very obvious that she was just hanging on. Sometimes you just have to hold on to your dignity, and this time it was touch and go. Cringeworthiness .. 10 out of 10

I'm pleased Tom won too! It seemed from his method of getting his stylfile into Walmart that he's not as soft as he appears - good on him! Lord Sugar seemed to take to Susan but she wasn't suitable in this instance. Jim really came out of this badly - Margaret's eyebrows shot up at his final cliche and Helen's poor idea and sudden change of plan was cringe making too. Still, I wouldn't like to go through all that; some of those tasks were really tough and so time limited.

Elegran Mon 18-Jul-11 18:55:40

If I had not been so busy reading the others, I'd have posted before you.

helshea Mon 18-Jul-11 18:54:47

Elegran, you are so right, there are some very good ones! My favourite was " A man who trusts nobody is apt to be the kind of man nobody trusts"

Elegran Mon 18-Jul-11 18:49:33

I found lots of other quotes from Harold McMillan too. He was pretty sharp.

helshea Mon 18-Jul-11 18:31:48

Your broadband was a little faster than mine wink

Elegran Mon 18-Jul-11 18:28:51

Great minds think alike (or google alike)

Elegran Mon 18-Jul-11 18:27:45

A foreign secretary.

helshea Mon 18-Jul-11 18:27:43

A Foreign secretary I believe, but in general rather than a particular one.

Annobel Mon 18-Jul-11 18:20:44

Great quotation, Helshea. Whom was he referring to?

helshea Mon 18-Jul-11 17:48:56

He is forever poised between a cliche and an indiscretion ....
Harold MacMillan

Annobel Mon 18-Jul-11 16:25:49

Yes, Jim, master of the cliché!

helshea Mon 18-Jul-11 13:22:08

Yes, but at least he taught us a new dimension on the English language.

Annobel Mon 18-Jul-11 12:50:26

People like Jim are the reason I have a chain on my door!

glammanana Mon 18-Jul-11 11:01:05

well done to Tom I had been routing for him for the past couple of weeks, soglad he came into his own on the home run, what a plank of a salesman
is Jim I would't buy anything from him even if you paid me

helshea Mon 18-Jul-11 10:08:15

or tin even (oops!)

helshea Mon 18-Jul-11 10:02:34

Jim did look a complete idiot at times last night. But as he says "you get what it says on the box".

susiecb Mon 18-Jul-11 09:22:20

Good for Tom and hopefully Susie can get some of the action too. Good to see Jim being humilated publicly the man has no integrity!

helshea Mon 18-Jul-11 07:20:21

Wow, for once in my life I was right... and yes nice guys can win, but the whole lot of them were disappointing when it came to business plans. Helen was awfully embarassing when she suddenly changed her plan when Lord Sugar had suggested it. It was a curl up with your hands in your ears moment... on another note, didn't Susan look so much different and glamorous on the after show?

Annobel Sun 17-Jul-11 23:09:48

So nice guys can win! Alan Sugar is just what Tom needs to put his ideas into a business framework.
