looking forward to the opening show tonight! and to all the lively discussions we can all have on this thread.(and specially for me and numberplease LONG LIVE BRUCIE )

Looking forward to watching Strickly to night,it look's like the forum post's will be quiet tonight girl's.

Shopping and washing done early, dinner prepared, Sky Plus set, dried fruit soaking in brandy ready for first Christmas cake. I'm ready.

I was wrong about Anton getting Edwina. He's got WAG Nancy, famous by association.
Is Russell Grant the new John Sergeant? Or the new Ann Widdecombe?

Russell looked quite light on his feet in the group dance and he certainly knows how to 'perform'.

Pity Craig had to snipe at Russell ...did expect him to get Flavia; but ...the way Lulu reacted!!

However ...thought this launch was 'too staged' ...don't remember last year's launch coming over as so 'phoney'.

I wonder how spontaneous all those performances were, because Rory Bremner was on the One Show the other night and I am almost sure he said they already knew who their partners were. Brendan carrying Lulu off over his shoulder? That looked very rehearsed to me.

I agree it did look very staged but I think we expect that don"t we ? still very excited to see how they all do

The programme was recorded earlier in the week, so Rory Bremner had probably already taken part in it by the time he was on The One Show. I was very surprised at how light on his feet Russell Grant was, maybe he won`t be this year`s John Sargeant, but Edwina could possibly be the new Ann Widdecombe. Just going off who I like and dislike, I would like the final 3 to be Rory Bremner, Jason Donovan and Anita Dobson, but will probably change my opinion after seeing them all perform.

numberplease write down the three celeb's who you expect to be in the final and put in an envelope,I have done this with X factor but I can't remember who I wrote down now,so it will be a surprise for me as well when I open it up, how dopey am I.

Glammanana, I`ll do that after they`ve all performed for the first time. The trouble in this house is that hubby decides on the first programme who the winner will be, then turns all nasty and peevish if they don`t!

Does he stamp his feet and have a hissy fit like mine does when he is proved wrong ? they are so predictable men aren't they ? I must find that X factor envelope !!!

Good line up this year, just wondering what accent Lulu will be talking in for the duration of the programme, it can be Scottish, American or Mockney, take your choice, am I the only one who finds her terribly irritating?

No, Virginiaplain, I`ve found her irritating since she appeared in the early 60s! Just don`t like her.

Goodness knows what I will do if Cilla Black ever appears on the programme, with that 30 year old hair-do and like Lulu behaving like she is still 20 something, that will be the end for me - Miaow!!!

Sorry ladies, I'm backing 62yr-old Scottish gran. I think she looks good for her age and can't see any one patronising her. Pamela Stephenson did an excellent job last in debunking myths about grans so let's hope Lulu follows in her footsteps!

Strictly starts in earnest tomorrow, a double bill, with a Saturday show too. Really looking forward to it!
