Today on Breakfast TV an interview with cast of a new drama 'Inside Man' produced subtitle 'that situation must cause '*dead asians*' .The word spoken was '*temptations*'.
It gave me a LOL moment
Can you recall any subtitle howlers?

My husband is slightly hmm deaf and uses the subtitles for programmes like '24' and UK versions of Swedish police dramas. He also likes to rewind live TV if he misses something but often forgets to cancel the rewind. Subtitles will only work on live TV so, if the rewind is still on, he can't access the subtitles and threatens to ring Sky and complain! It is not unknown for our TV to be 5 minutes behind the rest of the world for up to a week - very confusing.

Not too long ago I was watching Twiggy on a well known TV shopping channel, promoting her new CD which was called Romantically Yours. I had a good laugh when the subtitles named it Rheumatically Yours.

My husband is also hard of hearing, and except for the News, every program is sub-titled. I have really got used to them now, the only problem is when my children come to stay, it really gets on their nerves.

My neighbour is a bit hard of hearing and so always has the subtitles on - she is sure that this has helped her granddaughter learn to read so easily.

I'm sure it has, Learnergran I learned to read by watching my Dad read cartoon books to me. The speech bubbles worked just like subtitles, and the best is, the child learns without realising it.
