You're right, he is quite squat and the legs arre definitely bandy. But Mimi (unfortunate name) is tall, dark and handsome as is the young chap with the "sheep's eyes". Oh what am I going to do on Saturday nights now?

Lovely last episode with lots of humour - but I did notice that Salvo is a bit bandy-legged!

I wonder if we are going to have any Spanish series on any time soon I could do with the sight of some Guarda Civil officers in their nicely tailored uniforms,my friend and I used to go officer spotting when we went to the local market when I lived in Spain I am sure those trousers where sprayed on just for the delight of the local ladies.Another thing was that there where never any ugly officers they all had movie star looks.

I have just googled him and apparently "Pronto, Montalbano sono" is a Sicilian dialect way of answering the phone. Well, there you go. Now we can all swear in Danish and aswer the phone in equally fluent Sicilian Italian

Can't believe it's the last episode tonight! He's so gorgeous and his character is equally well developed. I'm going to really miss this. I love the comic touches and his obsession with food. I'm looking forward to reading the books while waiting for series 2.

Will he ever marry Livia? I don't think so. Will there ever be waves when he's swimming in the sea? Can I resist the temptation to answer the phone 'Montalbano solo'?

I particularly laughed at the episode when he was supposed to be watching porn videos (presumably evidence) and slept through the whole lot!

Looking forward to the last of the current series tonight, and we both love this series, the humour is a welcome addition. Also a Donna Leon addict, but don't think I would enjoy a series - I have such a strong picture of the Commissario, I might not get over it! It took me ages to get used to George Baker as Wexford, though his sidekick Burden was perfect - and I felt vindicated when I read that Ruth Rendell felt the same!
Love the cheesy music for Montalbano, too.

I like it too. Montalban is dishy and his flat is perfection. I do like the Scandinavian Noir genre, but the Montalban series is much more light-hearted. I love Italy but have never been to Sicily -we live in France and drive down, but always get sidetracked by other lovely places further north.

I love it too, that episode on the little island was just fab and I want Montalbano's house. I agree about Donna Leon, I think there is a German version which I saw dubbed into French, but it didn't seem anything like the books.

I love the fact that there is humour in it, as well as the sunny scenery. Apparently there is to be a new series in the autumn/winter - hooray!
