Loved the Crystal Cave, Mary Renault, books but couldn't read them again now. They were a good introduction.

I don't believe anyone can really enjoy the older, more original, versions of the legend.

I still reread the Crystal Cave series and Mary Renault. I know what you mean though some favourites don't work when you read them again.

I will be honest. I got so all consumed with the Crystal Cave stories, I daren't read them again! They pervaded my life! Can you understand that?

I have been getting my "Marys" muddled up. It should have been Mary Stuart (Crystal Cave books).

The Mary Renault books I read recently were about Alexander the Great. (very good too)
