Loved the film, especially the use of real life footage. Particularly liked the photos in the final credits linking the actors to the real people involved. Thank you Lilygran for clarifying that little aside. As with most things, you have to consider the bias. The original book was written by the CIA Ben Affleck character so of course, it's his version of events, heavily dramatized. Still an incredible story though!

Nothing new in Hollywood. Nothing should get in the way of a dose of patriotism.

We met some young Americans in France shortly after Saving Private Ryan was released. They were talking about the horrors of D Day with us and actually asked " Oh were the Brits in the war? " Doh!!!

Did you notice that, right at the beginning, one of the CIA men said 'The Brits turned them away'? In reality, they FIRST took refuge in the British Embassy and by arrangement, were transferred to the Canadians. But who cares about misrepresenting history if it makes for a better story?

Just been to see the new Ben Affleck film Argo about the American hostage crisis in 1980. Very well put together, used to think Ben Affleck was a bit wooden but very good in this and he directed it too. Had me sitting on the edge of my seat! Would recommend it.
