Any one seen the Les Mis film yet? I saw it last night and it was amazing. Can thoroughly recommend it. Ann Hathaway was superb, and it was beautifully done. Don't get me wrong, I think the show was also fantastic, but the film made some parts of the story clearer for me and being able to see the emotion in the actors faces was wonderful. Will stop now as I am running out of adjectives ;) Would love to hear your opinions xx

I'm going tonight! Hope we get in, because it's at the wee local cinema. Going early to queue!

I absolutely loved it, just as much as the stage show. It did make the story clearer to me. I love live theatre but couldn't fault this film at all.

My DH said it's the first film he's been to see where the audience applauded at the end. We'd gone as a family group from g'parents to g'children aged 8 and 13 and everyone was totally captured by it. DH and I have seen it 3 times as a stage production and both mediums are brilliant in their different ways. I was surprised at how good the singing was in the film. Seeing the actors in closeup on film really added to the overall atmosphere of it.
I can't see how anyone could fail to be captivated. Try and see it on the big screen, I can't see it being quite as effective on television.

A-MAY-ZZING ! The whole cinema didn't move a muscle and in the words of a small grandson - awesome and epic.

Hankies to the fore!

We saw it last night, it was wonderful a great big blockbuster of an emotional roller coaster, we were both in tears at the end. Having seen The Impossible on Friday I am now in the mood for something uplifting!

Wonderful film. Have seen stage production and film compliments it beautifully.

glassortwo Sun 13-Jan-13 20:05:36

Ohhhhhh I have seen it.......... did not really fancy it as I dont really do films and the cinema but OMG OMG OMG as nanapug said it was amazing!!!!!

I went as DH wanted to see it and he did not enjoy it at all but I was glued, and could not see when I came out with crying so much, I have not seen the stage show but the story was very clear to me, I loved it I would recommend you go and see it.

Went to see Les Mis on Friday and I can confirm it is better that the stage show. It is deeply moving , far more so than the stage show ( seen 4 times ) because the acting is so close up . there are a couple of extra scens in the film that help with the understanding of the story . when you go take plenty of tissues

All the more for us Harri grin

Barrow Sun 13-Jan-13 15:22:21

harrigran Sun 13-Jan-13 11:57:18

I fail to see the attraction of Hugh Jackman confused

Gally Sun 13-Jan-13 11:38:37

Phew marelli - thought I might have to see it 2x and have no lunch grin although it would be good to devote 2 afternoons to HJ !

celebgran Sun 13-Jan-13 11:27:05

will look forward to seeing that!

I saw the show years ago but did find it little confusing the music was amazing though.

baubles Sun 13-Jan-13 11:09:11

Hugh Jackman

nanapug Sun 13-Jan-13 10:53:55

Oh, I really don't agree about finding the film confusing. On the contrary, it clarified parts of the story that confused me after seeing the show.

dorsetpennt Sun 13-Jan-13 10:30:52

Taking someone to see it at the end of the week as a birthday treat - loved the show the film looks wonderful - hankies out and ready. Who's Hugh Jackman ? only a hottie grin

glassortwo Sun 13-Jan-13 10:20:20

I am going this afternoon.

baubles Sun 13-Jan-13 09:48:32

I think the film makes the story easier to follow than the stage show.

Barrow Sun 13-Jan-13 09:37:38

Someone who saw the film said that if you haven't seen the stage show you could find the film a bit confusing - did anyone find that?

Nanado Sat 12-Jan-13 22:26:14

Just had an invite from my DD and DDiL, they're taking me to see it for my birthday smile

baubles Sat 12-Jan-13 21:14:36

I've just come home after seeing this. It was simply marvellous, with wonderful performances from all the cast. I loved the stage show but the medium of film allowed us to experience the epic qualities of the novel. I thought it was a masterpiece. Don't forget your hankies!
