I bet they got a good deal with the Dubai trip and it was used as publicity given that Dubai is desperate to attract more tourists.

Oldgreymare Wed 29-May-13 12:28:38

NOT!

goldengirl Wed 29-May-13 12:12:19

Missed it last night sad. Can't believe they had to go to Dubai to do a task! Was this to cement international relations - or not!!!

Oldgreymare Tue 28-May-13 23:54:57

Car crash T.V. Cringed at the 12cms in a foot and the resulting debacle. I do wonder whether why these mistakes are not corrected by other 'contestants' unless they think it a sackable offence. hmm

Aka Tue 28-May-13 22:54:21

Me neither Anno and I can't understand half of what she says.

annodomini Tue 28-May-13 22:42:12

Leah is reportedly a doctor. I would not like to experience her bedside manner. hmm

merlotgran Tue 28-May-13 22:36:00

You don't really need to bother with The Apprentice. Just watch You've Been Fired and get the good bits.

POGS Tue 28-May-13 22:32:09

Compulsive though Merlot. grin

I really do like Dara, he makes me smile. 'You've Been Fired' is a good spin off and obviously it is making the point not to take the Apprentice too seriously. wine

Aka Tue 28-May-13 22:28:42

The one who went tonight said he was in the international property business and had a turn over of £500,000 in his first year...turn over not profit! What did he do? Sell two houses? What a bunch of idiots indeed hmm

merlotgran Tue 28-May-13 22:21:08

We said the same about wasting licence payers money, POGS.

What a bunch of idiots.

POGS Tue 28-May-13 21:48:41

Ye Gods Dubai. Why? Has the BBC not wasted enough money.

What a load of stinkers. Did laugh when Sugar said "Thank God I didn't ask you to get 20 camels, you'd have come back with a packet of fags."

As Goldengirl said "It's so awful I just have to watch it". grin

annodomini Thu 23-May-13 22:51:43

Uzma certainly shovelled on the eye make-up. It must have taken longer to take off than to put on - if she ever did take it off!
Eloethan, I think you've hit the nail on the head. I'm sure some of that ignorance was put on for the cameras and that they are briefed to let rip and be as obnoxious as they like. They don't hold back as civilized people would.

merlotgran Thu 23-May-13 22:07:25

I want to know how the girls get ready so quickly in the morning. I'd need to stay up all night if I was going to wear that much make up.

Deedaa Thu 23-May-13 21:55:54

That's the bit that always gets me goldengirl the three who end up in The Boardroom say the most appalling things to each other and then as soon as one of them is fired they're all hugging and kissing! Perhaps I'm too choosy about who I hug!

goldengirl Thu 23-May-13 17:58:26

It's so awful I just have to watch it! - and the You've Been Fired bit afterwards.

This lot always seem to shouting at each other and talking over each other - and then hugging the one who gets fired; yea right hmm

shysal Thu 23-May-13 15:01:24

Merlot, somebody got sacked on the spot from the Americal version for doing just that! Donald Trump said it was against the rules.

merlotgran Thu 23-May-13 14:11:35

Is there anything to stop a contestant ringing up a friend/relative and getting them to drop by with a fistful of cash??

Just wondering hmm

gracesmum Thu 23-May-13 11:35:25

I think Alex (of eyebrows fame) is a natural clown and quite funny, likewise well-spoken Jason, but what appals me is the general sheer level of ignorance !! I am old fashioned enough to value education and the basic principle of not making an absolute prat of yourself in public but they seem to regard it as aspirational . It is fascinating in the same way that previous genersations might have enjoyed "freak shows. Of course it is hyped / exaggerated/deliberately staged, but it's meant to be entertainment. I cannot imagine a major retailer like Argos waxing lyrical about last week's efforts and the man with the fistful of cash buying out the buffalo burgers - well really?

shysal Thu 23-May-13 11:16:26

I can't say that I have found anything likeable about any of the participants. Does anyone else find themselves distracted by 'the eyebrows'?

Eloethan Thu 23-May-13 00:48:40

I saw the after show "post mortem". I couldn't believe that someone was unable to identify carrots or cows. Do you think this was all put on for the cameras?

The girl that was fired came across very well and yet in the actual programme she was, like many of them, rather unpleasant and annoying. Again, I wonder if they're encouraged to be obnoxious to make the programme more interesting.

Do you think part of the deal for the apprentices is to get a complete make over because they all come back with much better hairstyles and looking all together more chic?

Deedaa Wed 22-May-13 22:19:01

Haven't watched it yet, but I'm looking forward to this one - I can't imagine it will end well grin

gracesmum Wed 22-May-13 21:46:48

Not to mention the baked potatoes and baked beans (presumably also in season!)

merlotgran Wed 22-May-13 21:11:12

Oh, we're loving this already tonight. They're setting up a farm shop. "Let's have satsumas....they're in season at the moment!" hmm grin
