Hooray! The new series starts on BBC1 on Tuesday smile. Is anyone else looking forward to it? I have already set my recorder for the whole lot, in case I forget to watch.

Merlot , Caz- agree - what a disappointment

I was really looking forward to this series but also found last night unrealistic to say the least. Have to agree with both if the above and really want to give Gillian a slap! Also found Celia quite unlike able last night. Fingers cross it improves. The acting is still brilliant but the writing is not. Have they changed the writers?

Sadly, I agree with you, caz. Last night's episode was ridiculous in parts - especially the sudden teenage pregnancy and birth. The gum chewing policeman (are they allowed to take bribes on duty?) turned the wedding scene into a farce before Gillian had a chance to throw her oar in. I'm actually starting to dislike Celia and Alan. hmm

I know it's supposed to be a light hearted drama but it's in danger of going down the same route as Doc Martin.

I must be in the minority as I do not think this series of Last Tango is as good as the first although the acting is still superb. I find the story lines rather too far fetched, the 8 month pregnant girlfriend came out of nowhere and the hospital scenes were unrealistic, and farcical. Both families seem to have major relationship problems entwining with each other, I find it all too much to take on board and unbelievable. Finally, I find Derek Jacobi slightly repugnant. Sorry, I am just a boring old f..t.

Hasn't Anne Reid come a long way from electrocuting herself in Corrie? grin

So glad she won the award although I think I voted for Mrs. Brown!!

Loved it! Brilliant story and acting. Three cheers for older actors flying the flag for us!

I was pleased to read that we gransnetters chose Anne Reid for the best older person's character for the Media awards. She deserves it!

I love Monty and Nigel, but not keen on Alan, especially on his chat show.

I saw that Merlot. Oh well if her parents love gardening no wonder she got the job confused

merlotgran Fri 22-Nov-13 16:52:35

Yes, Gibby, Missing them (and Nigel) already sad

BTW I read somewhere that Alan Titchmarsh is being replaced by Sophie Raworth to present the coverage of The Chelsea Flower Show. She is looking forward to it because......Her parents love gardening!!!!!

Apparently Monty Don will also do some presenting so every cloud etc., etc., but AT must be pretty miffed.

I loved the first series too, a tv highlight which is rare these days. Missed it this week but am looking forward to watching it tonight (on catch-up), as my Friday night viewing is not the same now that Gardener's World has finished for the winter. I miss Monty and Carol, does anybody else?

I did a course in Halifax many years ago. I think the craft shops were in Piece Hall.

Does anyone "live" near Halifax etc we are approx. 45 mins away yet never go there. Did visit many yrs ago..where there was a little square with little craft shops arranged.

PRINTMISS Thu 21-Nov-13 09:23:21

I shall keep watching, it is so lovely.

Loved it - all the older characters are wonderful, but I'm also enjoying the teenagers.

I thoroughly enjoyed it - great dialogue, laughter and tears, lovely scenery.

Grannyknot Wed 20-Nov-13 18:02:59

Hunt LOL.

Hunt Wed 20-Nov-13 17:39:55

Don't be too hasty, Grannyknot, they had to remind everybody who was whom.

ninathenana Wed 20-Nov-13 17:39:06

Loved it !

Grannyknot Wed 20-Nov-13 15:58:41

I thought it was deathly boring last night and I could almost predict the dialogue. Room 101! I'll be taking it off the 'series link' :P

janthea Wed 20-Nov-13 15:32:58

Great series. I think I would want to slap the husband!!

Ana Wed 20-Nov-13 15:30:21

I was a bit dubious about this second series, but I was riveted! I do feel for Gillian, she really is one of life's downtrodden...

Marelli Wed 20-Nov-13 15:18:05

I'll have to watch it on Catch-up again, as I fell asleep half-way through. Awake at 4am, though - as usual...hmm
