Now that you mention it absent........No it couldn't have been..
My dad spent 40 years mastering his craft, and last week someone half his age told him how to eat.😠
What did you you think you would have by your current age that you don't?

Yes, I know it's not very nice to call someone stupid, but listening to Feedback yesterday on Radio 4 I was reduced to ranting at the radio by her comment.
She said something along the lines of "I think there should be a music radio station for the over 60's" (They played her voicemail message, if anyone wants to check the exact wording I'm sure it is available on Listen Again)
WHAT???!!! I'm currently 55, does this mean that I will wake up on the day after my 60th birthday and decide I no longer like the music that I did before? Or that my mind has suddenly shut up shop with regard to listening to anything new?
OK, so lets take this further, when she hits 70, will she suddenly want another station, as obviously she can't possibly listen to things she enjoyed between the age of 60 and 69.
It's not really the music element of this that has made me
but this persons attitude to her own age. It's people like her that seem to reinforce the attitude that ageing equals stagnation.
Sorry to rant, I look forward to others opinions.
PS Just imagine a conversation between her and Greatnan!
Now that you mention it absent........No it couldn't have been..
Agus I hope you keep one eye out for elephants.
My current favourite car CD is the sound track for Out of Africa. This I,play when I want to switch off from the outside. We are surrounded by countryside and when I play this as I drive along, I am transported to the Plains of Africa whilst looking at the fields. Not sure how I turn the Scottish countryside into the African Plains but I have a very good imagination
"Talk" type radio isn't foolproof either! I once missed a motorway exit and found myself on the way to Wales while totally engrossed in the afternoon play!
Another 'favourite' in the car is 'Wheels on the bus' - not sure what happens then except it can be quite dangerous letting go of the steering wheel to do the actions,
Queen's Greatest Hits = Bad Nana Racer!
In the car, I'd certainly avoid The Ride of the Valkyries!
Kitty. I play classic FM in the car plus favourite CD's. The other day, Flight of The Bumblebee came on and I turned into a boy racer
Kitty - quite right about listening to music while driving.
One summer morning I was driving along in high spirits singing at the top of my voice "Summertime..."
And realised I'd crossed a junction without stopping
If you do like jazz, Jazzfm is good too.
I think the only reason to have a separate music channel from the young folk is to be spared punk rock, heavy metal etc.
anno, I do exactly the opposite.
I can't get a thing done if there is anything interesting on the radio so I have music on in the house and 'speech' radio in the car where I can listen properly.
On my recent (second
) speed awareness course we were told that listening to fast or beat music in the car had been shown to make people more likely to speed. That's my Meatloaf CD out then!
I'm 76, but really a rock-chick whose musical heart is still firmly in the 70's and 80's!
Seriously, I like all kinds of music, except maybe jazz, and intend to go
on doing so till I turn up my toes.
I usually listen to speech-based radio - 4 and 5. But in the car, I put on Classic FM. They mostly have bite-sized chunks of classical symphonies, concertos, operas and so on - ideal for short car journeys.
I also think that is daft and ageist. I have to admit that I don't listen to music stations much at all, but you cannot really define any particular musical taste by age.
Maybe for the 60+ somethings our memories are still with the Beatles, Beachboys and that generation of teenager music.
But if you followed that logic you would need a station per decade.
I am sure DGS would like a station for his favourite nursery rhymes of 2013.
I will campaign for one.
Has that woman not heard of CDs?
I think you are taking what she said too literally Pheonix. Saga is for the over 50s, we have keep fit classes for the over 60s, and so on. It's just a convenient way of losely identifying an age group.
Anyway she doesn't deserve the insults.
Bint isn't acceptable.
Yes phoenix you really are straying into sexism now I'm afraid. Not funny.
Stupid woman, damn woman and now a silly bint.
Just take it that I'm having a sense of humour failure this Sunday morning.
Nonnie if it -was- a GN member, then she should be excommunicated forthwith!
penguin I did hear some of the Feedback stuff about the new series of Master tapes, which involves a musician talking in front of an audience about the making of what might be defined as career changing album. I think Radio 4 is the perfect vehicle for this, can't see where it would fit with Radio 2 at all!
Still cross with that damn woman, and amazed at the Beeb for broadcasting it.
She's lucky that I wasn't taking the messages that day, silly bint!
Oh missed it but I wonder if it's due to a previous Feedback a couple of weeks ago? There were some complaints about a new Radio 4 series which is featuring different musicians, David Crosby was one (I like Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young) and Natalie Merchant was on this week. I like her as well. They have an audience asking questions. The Feedback of approx two weeks ago had lots of listeners not at all happy about these programmes. They wanted them on Radio 2 as Radio 4 is a 'speech' station.
I think I've matured to liking all sorts, I don't feel something is too 'young' or too raucous. But I didn't go to a gig at the local uni by Fleet Foxes a few years ago. Silly me. I love their music but felt I'd stand out from the crowd. Actually after finding Gransnet I would very probably go now.
I do have a rocking chair and I do knit but lots of young 'uns do nowadays. They call themselves B*tches with stitches.
How silly. I am 65, I love Neil Young, Johnny Cash, Don Williams, RUNRIG who I follow up and down the UK every year. I also love Folk music a Canadian Shanty band called Great Big Sea and the Fishermans Friends, Show of Hands, in fact I just love live music. Martyn Joseph. What is she talking about?
Radio 4. If I want music it's anything from early gregorian to Queen. But on cd or download, not the radio. (Played 'walk on the will side' yesterday followed by Pallestrina)
Angel Radio makes a nice change - presenters are amateur, and mature...
Can be heard on the Internet:angelradio.co.uk
Presumably Mick Jagger is still performing because he likes the music. So, if it's all right for him as a 70 year old great grandfather, it must be all right for the rest of us?
Not sure how they would cope with my musical tastes which range from Mozart and Stravinsky, through Bessie Smith, to the Beatles and the Kinks, the Levellers, Guns and Roses and Andrea Bocelli
absent - I like Glenn Miller as well, actually - especially Moonlight Serenade!
Rant away. I'm 70 in July and although I love the music from my youth there's plenty of music from these days I enjoy too. Who wants to be put in a particular category? It's like M and S 'Classic' range all beige and safe colours. Not for me.
Phoenix Do you think it could have been a gransnetter who is now crying and hiding her head in shame?[Grin]
