Yes, I know it's not very nice to call someone stupid, but listening to Feedback yesterday on Radio 4 I was reduced to ranting at the radio by her comment.
She said something along the lines of "I think there should be a music radio station for the over 60's" (They played her voicemail message, if anyone wants to check the exact wording I'm sure it is available on Listen Again)
WHAT???!!! I'm currently 55, does this mean that I will wake up on the day after my 60th birthday and decide I no longer like the music that I did before? Or that my mind has suddenly shut up shop with regard to listening to anything new?
OK, so lets take this further, when she hits 70, will she suddenly want another station, as obviously she can't possibly listen to things she enjoyed between the age of 60 and 69.
It's not really the music element of this that has made me 
but this persons attitude to her own age. It's people like her that seem to reinforce the attitude that ageing equals stagnation.
Sorry to rant, I look forward to others opinions.

My current favourite car CD is the sound track for Out of Africa. This I,play when I want to switch off from the outside. We are surrounded by countryside and when I play this as I drive along, I am transported to the Plains of Africa whilst looking at the fields. Not sure how I turn the Scottish countryside into the African Plains but I have a very good imagination
"Talk" type radio isn't foolproof either! I once missed a motorway exit and found myself on the way to Wales while totally engrossed in the afternoon play! 
Another 'favourite' in the car is 'Wheels on the bus' - not sure what happens then except it can be quite dangerous letting go of the steering wheel to do the actions,

I think the only reason to have a separate music channel from the young folk is to be spared punk rock, heavy metal etc.
anno, I do exactly the opposite. I can't get a thing done if there is anything interesting on the radio so I have music on in the house and 'speech' radio in the car where I can listen properly.
On my recent (second ) speed awareness course we were told that listening to fast or beat music in the car had been shown to make people more likely to speed. That's my Meatloaf CD out then!
I'm 76, but really a rock-chick whose musical heart is still firmly in the 70's and 80's!
Seriously, I like all kinds of music, except maybe jazz, and intend to go
on doing so till I turn up my toes.
Oh missed it but I wonder if it's due to a previous Feedback a couple of weeks ago? There were some complaints about a new Radio 4 series which is featuring different musicians, David Crosby was one (I like Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young) and Natalie Merchant was on this week. I like her as well. They have an audience asking questions. The Feedback of approx two weeks ago had lots of listeners not at all happy about these programmes. They wanted them on Radio 2 as Radio 4 is a 'speech' station.
I think I've matured to liking all sorts, I don't feel something is too 'young' or too raucous. But I didn't go to a gig at the local uni by Fleet Foxes a few years ago. Silly me. I love their music but felt I'd stand out from the crowd. Actually after finding Gransnet I would very probably go now. 
I do have a rocking chair and I do knit but lots of young 'uns do nowadays. They call themselves B*tches with stitches.
Presumably Mick Jagger is still performing because he likes the music. So, if it's all right for him as a 70 year old great grandfather, it must be all right for the rest of us?
Not sure how they would cope with my musical tastes which range from Mozart and Stravinsky, through Bessie Smith, to the Beatles and the Kinks, the Levellers, Guns and Roses and Andrea Bocelli 
absent - I like Glenn Miller as well, actually - especially Moonlight Serenade!
