Poldark

So I'm totally linked to the series [even if I was probably living in Manchester when it was first shown]. I know lots of places were called Poldark this and that when we used to go back to Cornwall for holidays.

I just remember Biggins being a vicar, I can't recall what he got up to! Tegan I read an interview with Christopher Biggins (about Poldark) where he said the outside scenes were filmed in Cornwall and the inside ones at Pebble Mill in Birmingham.

Filmed in Brum? When would that have been? Must have been after I'd left Brum and then Cornwall.

More than a naughty vicar Katy! Didn't he kill his first wife with his over enthusiastic sexual activities, or have I made that up? I seem to remember he had a foot fetish which he exercised with his sister in law

It's no good I'm just going to have to buy the whole of the original series on DVD. I need Ross Poldark back in my life [swoon]

Pebble Mill I wonder why they closed those studios and opened the ones in Manchester. Maybe there is no connection.

Yes Nan Kate, Biggins played a naughty vicar I believe. The indoor scenes were filmed her in Brum at the old Pebble Mill I think.

I will definitely video the whole series.

Now am I right that Christopher Biggins played the part of the lecherous vicar, or have I got the wrong show ?

Poldark was being filmed in Cornwall sometime this year I believe. Be interesting to see new faces.

That would probably work a lot better, Diva - far more convincing than someone we've seen many times before in other productions.

They were advertising down here for a young Cornish actress to play Demelza, an unknown!!

Carole - according to the papers, it will be a six parter, probably to be shown next year.

I compromised and called her after a famous Daphne du Maurier character instead.

DD1 has a beautiful Cornish name. I love the look of horror on DD2's face when I tell her she was nearly called Demelza.

I still think it's a lovely name.

I have just purchased a used box set of the original, on line. I think I would prefer to re-watch it instead of being disappointed with the new version.

Probably my favourite period drama ever! I yearned to be Demelza as I completely fell in love with Ross. I think I might find it hard to accept a new version.

I thought he was gay [I sort of wanted him to be cause then he would have been all mine].

He was bound to be married Tegan - all that sexual chemistry between him and Demelza!!

Married and living in France [I googled him as well ]. Surprised about the married bit, though.

Do remakes work? I cannot recall one that has. Poldark was perfect, to try to equal the original would be like remaking and equal Casablanca

Oh yes, he was, wasn't he? Goodness, that was a long time ago...how time flies (oh dear, I'm sounding like my granny now!)

Well I'm looking forward to the remake as I was living abroad when the original was first screened and have never seen it. I loved the books, especially the Ross Poldark character, and must have kept his name stored away ready for when my DS arrived years later. Oddly enough my DGS1 is called Robin, so I'm racking up the tenuous Poldark connections!
