my poor tv

Thanks for advice, im missing it now just for things like the news on a morning. I cant claim on ins as the excess is more than I paid for the tv. I don't have any spare cash to get a new one but if I have to go into debt (horrors), I need to know how to prevent it happening again, the cat is a big heavy boy cat and he used to sleep on my old ginormous tv that had a huge back with warm air vents, in fact sometimes all three would be curled up on it, I need to stop him doing it again. If I wall mount it the flex does not reach the socket so I would have to have a six plug extension dangling from the wall and that might pull the flex out of the tv.
Im tearing my hair out.

Wall-mounting is a problem according to the OP, anno.

If/when you do get another one, why not have it wall-mounted. The cat, no matter how large and powerful, would most likely have a problem destroying that. And definitely try reading your contents policy to see it you are covered.

Is it a plasma screen? They use two sheets of glass with gas between. Once broken it is only fit for the bucket. I don't know whether the gas is dangerous or not, but I can't imagine that a dangerous gas would be used in something for the home.

Pet damage is not always covered by insurance, but it would be worth checking.

I know it is safe to use small touch screen devices with broken screens, so may be O.K. DD1 still uses a tablet with a completely crazed screen which was stepped on by GS months ago.

Just make sure the next one is safely weighted down somehow - there are secure stands you can get.
