One of the best dramas I've seen on TV for a long time. Scottish, so sub titles were handy, but an excellent plot, and great acting all round.

BBC2. Still on Iplayer.

Got it recorded.

Yes, I watched this on iplayer during one of my many nocturnal episodes! It was brilliant, I too struggled with the dialect! Can thoroughly recommend iplayer!

I'd been looking forward to it but found it disappointing and a bit disjointed.
Re dialect/accent - set in the north-east but with predominantly Glasgow accents.
Like having a drama set in eg Newcastle but with the cast sounding cockney!
Didn't ring true.

I agree with mcem on this, it didn't ring true at all.Not the accents though, as I had not noticed that, just the general dialogue and action.DH said all that blokey ' I love you' stuff would never happen as men never tell each other that outside of books and tv.

All the young people looked like models from a Next brochure.

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 21-Jun-15 19:48:34

What's wrong with that? A lot of young people do look like that these days.

It's made me want to read some more Iain Banks books. So sad he died.

I enjoyed it- it was different. Although Scottish I also used sub titles, mainly because some of the actors spoke very quickly.

Wasn't the hero really dishy!!

I really enjoyed it, subtle twists in the tale. I did suspend belief when no police appeared after all the shooting!

Only watched bits of it as found it a bit far fetched, spent most of the time spotting the places it was filmed, mainly Macduff. When the car was set on fire and no police or fire brigade arrived that was it for me. It is a populated area and that would have been noticed.

Yes J52 I queried the absence of the police. Surely somebody must have seen or heard the car chases, gun shots or men running down the street with weapons?

PRINTMISS Mon 22-Jun-15 08:48:58

Ah! but it is only a story, and I thought a very good one.

annodomini Mon 22-Jun-15 09:26:01

I've recorded it while I've been away and will watch it this week. I have read the book and have always been a fan of Iain Banks - and his alter ego, Iain M Banks, sci-fi writer.

I just watched both episodes and thought it was pretty good albeit a bit far fetched.

Sub titles please - I understood about every tenth word.
