I've recorded it while I've been away and will watch it this week. I have read the book and have always been a fan of Iain Banks - and his alter ego, Iain M Banks, sci-fi writer.
Yes J52 I queried the absence of the police. Surely somebody must have seen or heard the car chases, gun shots or men running down the street with weapons?
Only watched bits of it as found it a bit far fetched, spent most of the time spotting the places it was filmed, mainly Macduff. When the car was set on fire and no police or fire brigade arrived that was it for me. It is a populated area and that would have been noticed.
I agree with mcem on this, it didn't ring true at all.Not the accents though, as I had not noticed that, just the general dialogue and action.DH said all that blokey ' I love you' stuff would never happen as men never tell each other that outside of books and tv.
I'd been looking forward to it but found it disappointing and a bit disjointed. Re dialect/accent - set in the north-east but with predominantly Glasgow accents. Like having a drama set in eg Newcastle but with the cast sounding cockney! Didn't ring true.
Yes, I watched this on iplayer during one of my many nocturnal episodes! It was brilliant, I too struggled with the dialect! Can thoroughly recommend iplayer!
