I watched the first series because it was compulsive viewing, but found it v disturbing. Now I'm thinking, Do I watch the next, or leave it alone? Out of interest ,does anyone else share that view.

I think the comments about how 'attractive' or otherwise, the characters are, are quite obviously subjective. I don't usually enjoy this type of programme, however, I find each individual character quite believable. I will be sorry when it ends - such a fabulous cast...

I agree that it's good to see some decent drama on TV however I have to concentrate so hard just to follow the dialogue, because it is spoken so fast. I also find the strident music annoying and distracting. Because of this I find it hard to follow the plot sometimes, and DH has to fill in the gaps for me from time to time. I think the acting is very good and will probably win a few awards, which will be well deserved.
Sarah Lancashire has come a long way since ditzy Raquel in Corrie!

Sad ending (tonight) The mum did him a kindness. Or so she thought. Put him a happy and peaceful frame of mind before she killed him.

Yeah. perhaps the scriptwriters did get the idea from Steinbeck

Well remembered Elred.

I live in the Midlands so everywhere else is either up North or down South.

I too saw Con O'Neil as Micky in Blood Brothers.

Please don't give away any too much information yet please. It could spoil it for those who have not been able to watch it yet.

That little boy is a wonderful actor, totally believable as a boy of 10 who has difficulties in his life.....amazing.

Sorry to sound grumpy but if you haven't watched the latest episode, why look at a thread where people are discussing it? hmm

pollyparrot Wed 09-Mar-16 09:16:13

Good point merlotgran.

Am I the only one having a problem with Cathrine then,I could smack her round the ear with a wet fish, bleddy woman. She ought to be like a wafer biscuit the way she rushes around.
And if it was real life,I would say, take some time off and sort your grandson out.

ALERT - COULD BE A SPOILER IF YOU ARE NOT UP TO DATE WITH WATCHING THE EPISODES.

I've had a thought..... (as my dh would say - 'did it hurt', he thinks he's funny smile

I'm referring to the closing scenes of last night's episode.
I think the mother only had the word of the son for what he 'did', yes I know there is all sorts of circumstancial evidence i.e. the bump on the car...
But the son is clearly very disturbed, voices, previous psychotic episodes.

And what purpose have these characters served in the storyline so far.... it would be the police tracng the car paint, finding the son did the murders and he's already dead. ?? To me this doesn't seem a good enough ending.

Methinks perhaps mamma might have been a bit ahead of herself with the rifle.

SPOILER ALERT!

Yes, me too. I did think that it was a bit too convenient; he is not there to defend himself and explain his actions, he may have thought that 'visiting' these ladies may have been a dreadful thing to do, hence his confession.

There is bound to be another twist or two before the end

Jalima Wed 09-Mar-16 11:46:31

Oh, and Robert Emms was in Capital and played Pythagorus in Atlantis (as well as War Horse etc etc).

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 09-Mar-16 11:52:00

SPOILER ALERT

Nah. He did the nasty ones.

Which just leaves the policeman from Downton (can't remember the name) to get his come-up penance for his.

And what murder did the poor little white van man actually do? (we know he didn't do the prossie ones)

I bet the glasses woman burns the house down with her petrol bombs with the little lad still in it. But he will, of course, be rescued.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 09-Mar-16 11:52:48

Come-uppence

Ana Wed 09-Mar-16 11:57:10

I was surprised Molesworth was so upbeat and cocky just because Sean had been charged with all the murders. I'm pretty sure it would have come out at the trial that he couldn't have been responsible for Vicky Fleming's death.

Still, he deflated pretty quickly when Catherine told him the latest news.

I don't think the mother jumped the gun (!), I think she already had her suspicions.

Lolaoq02 Wed 09-Mar-16 11:58:14

I'm loving this , except the phsyco teaching assistant's speaking without moving her lips....has her jaw been wired wink

Jalima Wed 09-Mar-16 11:58:54

I don't think white van man did anything except get blind drunk, although he may have been the one to bash the last prostitute, the young one?
Getting a bit lost now.

No, I don't think the farmer was the culprit. Too late now though. sad

Jalima Wed 09-Mar-16 11:59:17

I suspect Ann's Dad

Ana Wed 09-Mar-16 12:01:35

Well, if it wasn't either of them that means there'd have to be a completely new and unexpected suspect revealed next week which seems a bit unlikely confused

LullyDully Wed 09-Mar-16 12:02:21

I must agree if I haven't caught up with a programme I don't read the thread......common sense.

Greyduster Wed 09-Mar-16 12:29:48

Ann's dad??? Blimey! My money's been on Neill from the start. But then DH says not, and he's usually a better guesser than I am smile! Have to say I'm loving this series - next week should be a corker!

Jalima Wed 09-Mar-16 12:31:47

We are supposed to suspect Neill, but that's too obvious.

Ana Wed 09-Mar-16 12:35:16

What motive would Ann's dad have? confused
