Good for Neil, very thoughtful and sensitive replies to Anna about the younger Helen. I'm not at all surprised at Susan's attitude, she is even gossipy enough to let people know. It might reach Rob that Neil is prepared to be a character witness. With 'two good men' Helen's position looks a little better. This will all overshadow TA for decades, a huge disruption of 'an everyday story of country folk'.
Eirel, there was also the occasion when she was very tired, late in pregnancy and said No several times but Rob continued. It's rape on more than one occasion. As the posters say, No means exactly that. There is something particularly grotesque imo in forcing sex on a heavily pregnant woman who is saying No, I'm tired I don't want to.
Apologies, I'm not minimising other forms of rape, just empathising with Helen, who by then was beginning to be unable to avoid the fact she was married to a man who wouldn't make her or Henry happy or emotionally safe.
But will Neil's heart be in it with Susan bleeting in his ear? Ian will do the job but Neil is an interesting person for Anna to choose. Susan is very disloyal to Pat, who she works for and can she keep her mouth shut? Silly question really.
Hopefully Susans comments will make Neil more determined to speak up for Helen. He has said he will not speak badly of Rob ( who he probably hardly knows) Would be good idea for Neil to be given his own voice for a change
Amusing that Adam wanted Ian's letter to Helen to be short + not detailed. What would that detail be Adam? "You + I fell out Helen when you failed to tell me my soon-to-be husband was snogging Charlie"? Ah, yes. That would be it
It was a drunken new year's eve snog. I'm not defending Adam,I believe Ian deserves better but he chose to marry Adam and generally they are very happy together. Rob was the problem in all of this, winding everyone up and preventing Helen from contacting Ian. Ian over reacted, blaming Helen rather than Adam. Everyone needed to calm down a bit but they didn't, did they. I'll be interested when Rob's clever barrister x examines Ian…...
