Hinterland

I love Hinterland! I agree the characters are a bit intense.

Matthias has lost a daughter; I also think he has something else in his past. Mared seems generally tortured, and probably feels guilty about being a single parent to a daughter whom she never seems to see. The male DC (whose name I've forgotten) is overlooked, as is the other (female) DC.

I'm convinced Prosser is dodgy.

I suppose anyone who lives in that area (Aberystwyth/Borth) is bound to get a bit intense and moody after a while speaks from bitter experience.

Hinterland works better in Welsh. God knows why they've done it in both Welsh and English. Waste of our money.

Just in Welsh with subtitles would do. Should be used to them by now on Saturday night on BBC 4. Not to mention Happy Valley.

When you consider how beautiful that part of Wales is, it does come out as very dour. We enjoyed it on catch up a short while ago so can't watch it again. He does have the saddest eyes bless him and is obviously suffering, poor love.

It's far more genuine in Welsh. It doesn't make sense in English as the characters normally speak Welsh anyway.
