"Alas poor Scruff, I knew him well, who could forget that pungent smell?"

Quite irrevelant to the story but I love these probably pastel? sketches that we see as illustrations of the people in court cases. As seen in the link of this post by

I thought you might not be the only one asking those questions LG so had a look around but it must be a bit early for the mediasmile. I am sure someone will write an article or a blog on it before long. I did find this but as I am not a lawyer I am not sure how relevant it is. It does show that some large changes were made to the workings of family courts in 2013 though so I wonder if this is what the advisors have used to make this work for TA.

Lazigirl Thu 15-Sept-16 09:15:05

I wish they would get things vaguely right if they have specialist advisors. Judges who sit in criminal cases do not do family court work. Helen was very calm and collected. It's a difficult one to call as I think SW will want more mileage out of Rob yet, as the storyline has gained a lot of listeners, so my guess is he will still be playing a largish part in the everyday story of cf.

Gracesgran Thu 15-Sept-16 07:55:07

Oh Iam this is one imaginary Archers little boy. My heart goes out to all the cases of children in such cases and to the SWs. How can they possibly get it right every time?

Iam64 Thu 15-Sept-16 07:48:21

I hope we hear relevant sections of the report from the cafcass worker. The Judge indicated that the social worker supported Henry returning to his mother. The Judge heard Henry's evidence to the criminal court and the cafcass report will provide a more detailed summary of Henry's overall welfare, how he feels and what he wants to happen.

NfkDumpling Thu 15-Sept-16 07:41:01

The judge agreed with the jury about Rob's guilt which made him seem biased. I'm surprised he was able to sit for the family court too.

Gracesgran Wed 14-Sept-16 22:43:57

I'm not sure I got any sense of how the family court was going. I wonder when we will hear Henry's evidence. I do wish it would show how coercive Rob is.

I grew up in Worcestershire, and remember many of the "old boys" sounding like Bert Fry!

LullyDully Wed 14-Sept-16 16:38:08

I have a friend who grew up on a farm in Buckinghamshire. She always said the actors on Archers had a real hotchpotch of country accents from round the country. I feel more should be Brummies as they are so near Birmingham. I believe the village is based on Inkberrow, May be wrong.

Lazigirl Wed 14-Sept-16 13:20:36

Shall we start a petition to keep Ian?
Why does William have a silly "country" accident that nobody else does? I find it very irritating.

Gracesgran Wed 14-Sept-16 11:51:40

Court cases are often not the end...

Blossom Hill Cottage belongs to Usha, the Vicars wife, and was being rented by Rob (and Jess) before Helen moved in with him, so I would think that the tenancy must be in his name.

Nelliemoser Wed 14-Sept-16 08:46:09

vintage1950 welcome. My husband listens but no one else in my family seems to "get" TA.

You are also right about the danger the boys could be in from Rob. Such murders have happened a number of times. "If I cannot have my children then nobody will."

Nelliemoser Wed 14-Sept-16 08:37:47

Merlot I was on holiday the week of the trial and had to do a whole week of catchup on Sunday evening before I heard the trial verdict episode. You will survive.
The result of the family court custody/contact hearings could be very difficult for them after the trial.

Wouldn't Helen have to press charges against Rob for the rapes. I doubt if it would be worthwhile her trying it and it could cause much more aggro for all the Archers family.
Did Helen ever put Blossom Hill cottage in Rob's name?

Gracesgran Wed 14-Sept-16 08:25:42

I hope Ian stays. The none Archer characters are very important.

Gracesgran Wed 14-Sept-16 08:23:55

I am sure she will be expressing her opinion even though we can't hear her! Emma's contact with Henry and therefore Rob will put her in an interesting position. We don't really know if Ursula and Bruce have gone home do we?

LullyDully Wed 14-Sept-16 08:13:34

I think Ian is very long suffering. He would have every right to leave. He has only just come back to us though. He hasn't been on for ages, so hope he stays.

The one I find very quiet is Susan, where is she when you want an opinion???????

Iam64 Wed 14-Sept-16 08:04:24

Do you think Ian will leave Adam AyjayF? Adam is like his role model, Brian, he struggles to get beyond physical attraction and remain loyal to his partner. (I'm being V polite here)
If Ian leaves Adam, will he leave Ambridge because a good chef can easily find employment elsewhere. I do hope he doesn't go. Maybe they could find a good therapist and recommend said therapist to Helen.

AyjayF Tue 13-Sept-16 22:23:18

Said it before. I'll say it again. I blinking LOVE Ian.?

phoenix Tue 13-Sept-16 20:15:49

Eddie has been known to say "bloomin/flipping heck" on occasions, AjayF ! grin

AyjayF Tue 13-Sept-16 18:23:10

Sorry!!!

AyjayF Tue 13-Sept-16 18:09:01

Do people ever swear on The Archers?
How do they stop themselves?

AyjayF Tue 13-Sept-16 18:07:27

Do people swear on the Archers?
Don't know how they've stopped themselves

Hello grumppa are you an addict too?

merlot, if you are still looking in (and everyone else of course) did you see the Total TV Guide Spoilers are on Mumsnet Absolutely nothing about the family court outcome of coursehmm

grumppa Tue 13-Sept-16 16:42:11

I heard the jury episode again yesterday afternoon. I was reminded not only of 12 Angry Men, but also of the jury in Chapter IV of Strong Poison, by Dorothy L. Sayers. Another interesting cross-section of characters, leading, in the absence of majority verdicts in thos days, to a retrial being ordered for Harriet Vane.
