Its no use I simply don't see the attractiveness of Aiden Turner as Ross Poldark. He just looks grumpy and a bit smelly most of the time. I like George Warleggan but only because he was such a splendid Freddy Threepwood in the Blandings series.
Yes its not great. I don't know why Ross seems to be such a stranger to soap and water. Everyone else seems to manage. You'd think he might manage to shave before his own son's christening too. It would only mean a short break from all his meaningful silences and general frowning!
DH says that "Bodmin" is Malmesbury in Wiltshire, I get a running commentary on all the mines. One thing I noticed was how quickly Demelza's belly popped, deemed to grow during scenes
I read that both Aiden and the cameraman were clonked on the head by the boat when filming that scene as the sea was so rough. It was filmed in winter so I don't blame him for wearing something, probably needed a wetsuit underneath!
I expected shirt and breeches to come off before he waded into the sea. Need cheering up a bit. I find watching it quite gloomy. I know they didn't have electricity. Interesting, too, how he lapses into a slight brogue now and then. It must be difficult keeping up another accent all the time.
Missing it tonight. I'm in Gdansk drinking Goldwasser - there are proper gold flakes in it, it's so exciting (and only 3 quid) - so I'll probably get over it. Looking forward to my Corrie, Poldark, Victora and Archers fest on Wednesday though In the meantime, yes please, pour me another Goldwasser....
Ana - yes, she is tall, isn't she? I think you are probably right that a poor girl would have been less well nourished and therefore shorter. Nice hair, though.
I didn't see it tonight. DH gets exceedingly grumpy because the TV Bodmin apparently looks nothing like the real thing. I thought it was the real thing.
Rosie - thanks for the heads up re AT's ballroom dancing. I bet he'd do a good pasa doble. Let's have him on Strictly.
Re Demelza, I think she is well cast really. She needs to look a bit different to the well bred young ladies, I suppose.
What about a game of "spot the cliché" or "the extra doing something unnecessary"?
So, tonight we had the obligatory scene of riding across the grass land over the sea (cliché, shown every scene, only worth 1 point) BUT meeting an adversary whilst on said ride, threatening conversation, with scowling! A possible 3 points there?
But possibly most points scored in the "extra doing something unnecessary" category for the smock wearing yokel prodding geese around in a pen for no apparent reason! Must be worth a 10?
I`m +not complaining, because I just like to look at him, but has anyone else noticed how the length of Ross Poldark`s hair changes from scene to scene?
