Just watching "Street auction" on BBC1,, where on earth did Paul Martin get that blue suit, looks 2 sizes two small, perhaps it was donated.

Ok, I'm no style Icon, but blimey hmm

Men in suits are still interesting......

tv presenters are 'dressed' for television. they are not there everyday clothes! that is across the board, all channels. They don't just turn up dressed as they appear on tv.

Yes cathodexx

how did you find this thread from 8 years ago 2016.

It was the same in the 1950's, we had the Teddy Boys, then the mods and rockers, then the mini skirts not forgetting the shoulder pads. A certain fashion doesn't last long but seems to always make a comeback many years down the line. Let them have fun and enjoy the way they dress, they are not harming anyone. I am now 81 years old and wish I had kept all my clothing from ther 50's ad 60's, just to look at them as they would have brought back so many memories, even though I can close my eyes and still see them in my minds eye.

2016 !! I hadn’t noticed that. I doubt that blue suit still exists in reality but we still see it on the old Flog Its that are forever being flogged.

Don’t mind his suits but the blue jeans he wears are worrying- does he wear a truss!?

I know this is a very old thread, but saw Paul Martin in his oh so tight jeans recently, it was an old episode on tv and thought
OMG and tried hard not to look!😲

How can you not like Paul Martin nina I think he’s a lovely chap He does like the flamboyant colourful outfits but who cares some look nice, some don’t

I just don’t get the adoration of Monty is Don find him a real turn off

Agree completely.

Usually Paul Martin looks good it has to be said.

Well, at least he was wearing a suit. That other chap, David something wears brightly coloured jeans which are much too tight. As he's rather well-endowed, it's not an attractive look.

David Harper you mean. Yes, there’s no doubting which side he dresses! 😳

Can’t stand Paul Martin. He cannot read auto cues correctly. Doesn’t follow from one line to the next. However, this causes my husband and me some entertainment when watching Flog It .See if you notice next time. He roars with laughter at his own jokes. I also think he must be wearing a truss at the front of his jeans.

Rishi sunak always looks as if he is wearing a Norman Wisdom suit! Trousers too short, jacket too tight all he needs is the cap! We saw Paul Martin filming at Bletchley………no comment!

Another presenter whose suit irritates me is Ewan Davies from Dragon's Den. He wears a tight jacket straining at a high button and an expanse of shirt below it to the top of low-slung skinny trousers which finish above the ankle. He doesn't look as bad lately on current affairs programmes.

I hear he is also into very intimate piercings. 😉

Primrose53 Thu 25-Jan-24 15:39:00

I think these skinny suits/trousers are on the way out now. On a coach trip recently the driver wore skinny trousers but he had a fat belly that stuck out so he looked daft.

I love to see a man in a well fitting suit. Tom Jones wears some great ones in wonderful fabrics and David Bowie also looked great in a sharp suit. Rod Stewart’s suits are always well tailored although some are a bit gaudy.

Graeme Hall (dogs behaving very badly) is another who looks as though he'd be struggling to breathe in his tight fitting waistcoats and jeans with jacket bursting at the seams.

Yes he does. He’s put on some timber since he was first on TV. The waistcoat he had on the other night looked like it had been specially made to cover his big belly.

When I saw this thread title my immediate thought was this.
A million miles away from impeccable Savile Row tailors such as Gieves and Hawkes or the impeccable Charlie Watts in Tommy Nutter

Calendargirl Thu 25-Jan-24 20:18:26

Probably spelling it wrong, but Tomasz Schafernacke, the weatherman, looks pretty cool in his suits methinks!
