It isn't something I usually comment on but

Leslie Joseph is 71 in two weeks time!!!!!!!

Jane10 Thu 13-Oct-16 12:09:34

I wouldn't travel on OGM's bus or if I did I'd challenge some of the ill informed judgemental comments made by some of the passengers. What's the fact that he's gay got to do with anything btw?

seacliff Thu 13-Oct-16 11:50:22

I had always liked Will Young, and enjoyed his music, and was surprised and a bit disappointed when he left so suddenly, as I was enjoying his performances. I didn't know he had history of depression, and his brother also apparently. His Mum must be worried for him.

He does seem vulnerable. Just shows you can be successful, he had a good home and education, and still be unhappy and messed up in your head. Sad.

annodomini Thu 13-Oct-16 11:38:28

Well said, OGM

Ana Thu 13-Oct-16 11:26:33

If it's deveoped since his X Factor days, fair enough, but the format on that show was even more pressurised than Strictly's and Will certainly had his fair share of knock-backs and put downs before emerging the surprise winner!

NotTooOld Thu 13-Oct-16 11:26:26

Sorry if I was insensitive, nightowl. I'm sure what you say is true. However, WY has let an awful lot of people down in jumping the Strictly ship, so if anxiety is the problem I think he should have thought things through before signing up.

nightowl Thu 13-Oct-16 11:15:35

I believe there are many performers/ famous people who suffer from anxiety/ depression/ stage fright. Some may deliberately take up these careers in order to express themselves in a way they find difficult in everyday life. I think they often adopt a kind of alter ego that enables them to perform. Like jane10 I wouldn't dismiss this possibility at all.

NotTooOld Thu 13-Oct-16 10:56:04

Oldgreymare - it sounds fun on your bus. grin

'Course he knew what he was getting into. Nerves? Stagefright? Well, if so he's in the wrong job. Man up, Will.

Oldgreymare Thu 13-Oct-16 10:16:12

Waiting for the 'Old Biddy Mini-Bus', you know the one that stops every couple of minutes and cries of 'Thankyou, driver' ring out. More frequent users actually use the driver's name AND risk a risque comment, you know the 'you can come home with me if you like' type. Anyway I am cross with myself as I didn't add to the conversation about Will Young.....
He's gone, couldn't take it!
Len knows best.
I never liked him.
He's gay.
Much lifting of bosoms...
I just wish I had had the courage to say 'So what!'

Charleygirl Thu 13-Oct-16 09:56:53

I agree with BlueBelle he knew what he was signing up for.

Jane10 Thu 13-Oct-16 06:59:35

Adrenalin will give the instant oomph to respond the way poor Will did. I certainly wouldn't discount his history of anxiety and depression.

BlueBelle Wed 12-Oct-16 23:58:38

That sounds like nonsense he didn't seem at all anxious when he stood up to Simon Cowel in Pop Idol and he didn't look anxious when he answered Len whatsit and he's been performing for a lot of years and must know how strictly works with the judges and criticism etc so that doesn't connect with me at all Sounds like a good old whitewash

Eloethan Wed 12-Oct-16 23:52:59

Will Young has never struck me as a person lacking in self confidence. He's a good singer and performer and he knows it. I've always liked him as a performer since he was on X Factor but I find it difficult to believe he left Strictly because he was suffering from anxiety. As merlot says, why would you enter a competition that attracts millions of viewers if you dislike being the centre of attention? All very odd.

merlotgran Wed 12-Oct-16 19:42:08

Apparently Will has left because of serious problems with anxiety.

'He's a deeply private person and doesn't enjoy being the centre of attention'

Might it have been a good idea not to have signed up in the first place or do they get paid whatever the outcome? hmm

Jalima Wed 12-Oct-16 13:19:08

merlot granjura indeed, the 'casting vote' system is ridiculous!

BlueBelle Wed 12-Oct-16 13:12:18

That wouldn't surprise me AT ALL Nottooold

NotTooOld Wed 12-Oct-16 10:46:09

Is it a conspiracy too far to suggest that Will Young had a prearrangement to leave this week? Look at the publicity both he and the show are getting? Oh, ok, sorry, gone too far........grin

felice Wed 12-Oct-16 10:34:20

Sorry just checked he flicked the caller the V sign not swearing.Just as rude.

felice Wed 12-Oct-16 10:32:17

I have no time for Will Young after he was very rude to a caller on Saturday Kitchen earlier this year, the caller asked for hell and Will swore at him quite openly.
When it was pointed out that it was a live show he just flounced instead of apologising.
Sorry I cannot find a link to post.
Surely you should not go on a show like Stricly if you cannot take critisism?

annodomini Wed 12-Oct-16 10:23:59

Apologies - his partner was Karen Clifton, not Joanne Clifton!

Anniebach Wed 12-Oct-16 10:01:05

Seems the poor man has been battling a drink problem and depression, perhaps he is too fragile

annodomini Wed 12-Oct-16 09:58:12

Celebs aren't supposed to answer back to judges' criticisms though some of the professionals have been known to do so. I doubt if Will is so over-sensitive that he would quite after a brief exchange with Len. There must be more than meets the eye. It's sad for Joanne who is a wonderful dancer and choreographer.

DanniRae Wed 12-Oct-16 09:22:36

I like Len BUT I thought he was very rude to Will. The man was only defending the dance that Karen had created. Sorry to see him go. Sorry for Karen too...........sad

Jane10 Wed 12-Oct-16 08:59:33

Maybe he had a better offer -I'm a Celebrity is back next month. Is Will off to the jungle?! Now there's a conspiracy theory for you!grin

BlueBelle Wed 12-Oct-16 08:44:36

Well if it wasn't anything to do with the spat, Will has the very worst timing in the world haha
Why that week? either it's a double bluff and he wanted the publicity of people thinking about it and talking, as we are ( don't really think so) or
There was more to the spat than we saw ... possibly

If Will has a 'home' problem very strange it came to light the week he had over the top criticism

To be honest I can't read 16 pages of others views this is enough for me

Jane10 Wed 12-Oct-16 07:05:25

It'll all come out in the end. Watch and wait. Still disappointing though.
