It isn't something I usually comment on but

Leslie Joseph is 71 in two weeks time!!!!!!!

chelseababy Mon 05-Dec-16 06:33:48

I think Charlie must mean Claudia. I am hoping that in the final which is judged solely on public votes., people will not vote for Danny because of his previous experience !

callgirl1 Mon 05-Dec-16 18:13:29

My daughter and I must be the only ones then who thought that Elaine Page sounded great.

Alima Mon 05-Dec-16 19:21:04

Each to their own callgirl1.
As a matter of interest did you used to rate Les Dawson as a pianist? (Tongue in cheek emoticon needed!)

DanniRae Mon 05-Dec-16 19:38:01

Oh No! callgirl1 - both my husband and I thought she sounded awful. Did anyone notice that she seemed to speak a lot of the lyrics?

Jalima Mon 05-Dec-16 20:08:07

Les Dawson was a brilliant pianist!!

Nearly as good as Eric Morecambe who played all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order.

Charleygirl Mon 05-Dec-16 20:15:57

Thanks chelseababy I have definitely lost the plot.

Jalima Mon 05-Dec-16 20:31:16

It's because there are two Claudias!

callgirl1 Tue 06-Dec-16 00:42:46

It takes a good pianist to deliberately play badly and out of tune.

JessM Tue 06-Dec-16 06:47:14

You can only play a piano out of tune if it is.... in need of a piano tuner. Unfortunately once the human vocal chords have deteriorated then you can't call in the larynx tuner.

Anya Tue 06-Dec-16 06:53:54

You can most definitely play a tune, out of tune, on a well-tuned piano.

Elaine was out of tune on some of the lower notes.

JessM Tue 06-Dec-16 06:58:06

That is called playing the wrong notes Anya.
Out of tune is when you try to hit a C and it is a C flat, or thereabouts. Or even a B.
Behind it all lies physics.

Anya Tue 06-Dec-16 07:03:17

I said you can play a tune, out of tune. I teach piano.

Anya Tue 06-Dec-16 07:04:08

I think you are missing the point that it's deliberate

Anya Tue 06-Dec-16 07:05:01

You of course know that a C flat is a B.

JessM Tue 06-Dec-16 07:18:17

Yes of course I do. smile
No I don't think I am. Playing the piano you either hit the right notes or you done. If it comes out sounding a quarter tone flat then it's because the piano string needs tuning. The player cannot correct this. A violin player can do their own tuning and can correct the tuning if their instrument is not tuned correctly.
People can hit the wrong notes - they don't know the correct ones or they can't discriminate between semitones so struggle with minor keys etc
Or they can know the tune and they are trying to hit the correct note but sing a little flat (more commonly than sharp). They are not vibrating their vocal chords at the correct frequency. That is equivalent to an out of tune piano. Elaine Page obviously knows the correct notes by now ! But she not able to hit them accurately any more. Which sad.
Singing slightly flat is the bane of acapella choirs as it is all too easy for a group to slide downwards in pitch an eighth or a quarter tone at a time.
But several other guests on Strictly recently have also sung really flat.

Anya Tue 06-Dec-16 07:21:22

I give up.

You just don't get it do you

JessM Tue 06-Dec-16 10:34:03

Know the feeling Anya smile smile LOL

rubylady Wed 07-Dec-16 01:57:27

I thought she sounded brilliant, I wish I could sing like that. If she was slightly off, it's probably after laughing so much at Bradley Walsh on Sunday Brunch the other week, he was hilarious. Not laughed so much in ages.

Yes, both Eric and Les were fantastic at playing the piano "wrong", again, very funny. Roll on some good tele over Christmas of the ol' 'uns. smile

rubylady Wed 07-Dec-16 01:58:44

Tele guides out for Christmas later today! Yeah!

DanniRae Wed 07-Dec-16 09:02:53

Actually I thought Bradley Walsh was awful on Sunday Brunch.
Funny at first and then he went too far - he didn't seem to realise that there were other people on the show...it was all "Me..Me..Me" like a spoilt child!

POGS Sat 10-Dec-16 19:36:11

Hotting up tonight.

So far I give them ALL 10's.

merlotgran Sat 10-Dec-16 20:13:09

The website won't accept my votes. Must be clogged up!

Liz46 Sat 10-Dec-16 20:15:15

Fabulous show this evening.

Anya Sat 10-Dec-16 21:39:30

Wow! Ore certainly pulled two great dances out tonight.

annodomini Sat 10-Dec-16 21:47:08

CRaig is always hyper-critical of Oré. He gave him 8 when all the others were full of praise and gave him 10.
Claudia has surpassed herself each week but I think she will go out this weekend.
