Italy's Invisible Cities. BBC

Must try and get this on catch up, when is it on and is it on BBC or Sky?

Yes it was an excellent series. My favourite was Naples because we were in Pompeii and Herculean last year, but it has definitely made us want to visit Florence. It was on BBC, rosesarered.

I like Alexander Armstrong enormously. I like Michael Scott enormously.
However their matey, "chaps on a trip together" style of presentation on this series (I gave up after Rome) I found disappointing, dumbed down, patronising and not really worthy of either of them.
Michael Scott on Sicily last night though was outstanding!!

I must have been thinking of this ????? Maybe I saw it on iPlayer or maybe time flies when you're having fun. Surely not really 2015?

Michael Scott was excellent last night on Sicily (so why did I fall asleep?)
However, I will watch it again.

I did find Michael and 'Xander' a bit 'matey' on the other three programmes but they were very interesting. They were on very recently MawBroon (surely not a repeat?)

We thought the Florence one was the best, some really fascinating stuff. I will happily watch Xander in anything, it makes a change to see someone who doesn't pretend to be stupid.

I saw the Rome one not that long ago I'm sure Maw, maybe they repeated it. I loved them all but I didn't enjoy Michael Scott in Scicily at all.

I also like the series when Andrew Graham Dixon went round Italy with the chef Giorgio Locatelli? Not sure if that name is correct.

Re Michael Scott - is his hair meant to look like that or had someone cut it with a knife and fork?
It was very strange.

Thanks for mentioning this, gals - I can get it on Youtube now and, although the quality is not good, I have found these programmes really actually show and tell you stuff. Lots of other "documentaries" last an hour or an hour and a half and at the end you haven't really learnt much.

The series I have mentioned has not covered Rome nor Sicily.

The Series is titled ' Italy's Invisible Cities ' and aired on BBC 1. The series has covered Naples, Venice and Florence.

I think some posters are mixing 2 different series or maybe there was a series I have missed in the past. Did the Rome and Sicily series have the same presenters, 'style' of format and used 3D scanning technology ?

I can only speak for the series I have mentioned and commented on how much I enjoyed it and found it fascinating to view those cities through the eyes so to speak by using the 3D scanning .

Deedaa. I too thought Florence was my favourite. So interesting about the Medici's, Leonardo de Vinci and the genius of Brunelleschi and the 'dome' of Florence's Cathedral. Excellent stuff.

I knew about Vasari's secret passage but I thought it just went across the bridge, I didn't realise how long it was.

POGS Rome was the first one with Alex Armstrong, Michael Scott and the laser mapping etc. They obviously decided to do some further programmes at a later date.
Michael Scott was on his own in Sicily and it was very disappointing I thought.
