Just watching this now. My God what a shit Charles is!
Absolutely no respect for him.

Tegan2 Mon 07-Aug-17 16:00:44

Probably more the clever use of hairstyles, make up and using good photographers, but I can see where you're coming from with that.

I agree with Skweek1, feel sorry for Diana too but my mother had Borderline P. Disorder and was a mirror image of Diana's behaviour. The hysterics probably drove Charles back into Camilla's solid arms. BPD is very hard to live with and a pampered Charles would find it impossible. The marriage was wrong for both from the start though, Diana did pretend to like the same outdoor pursuits and portray a very different side so it started with dishonesty on both sides. If only she had stopped taking crazy chances with various men she would be alive today, although I do think she was hurried off the scene. All a terrible mess and so very sad, we all miss the girl despite her human failings.

I always thought, looking at photos of her from the engagement onwards, that at some point after she had a nose job.

nigglynellie Mon 07-Aug-17 15:45:06

Actually, I think Camilla has saved he monarchy. I think she's fab, and absolutely right for the P of W, in fact I think she probably saved his sanity. Why is it paddyann that you always sound so bitter? surely you don't have to always refer to people you dislike as parasites? It's a horrible word and actually in this instance not true.

Tegan2 Mon 07-Aug-17 15:41:59

I agree with gillybob; I think she did save the monarchy, because it looked at itself and realised it wasn't what the people in this country wanted any more. I'm not a monarchist at all, but I adore William and Harry, probably because William was my son's age when he lost his mum, and, to me, he'll always be a little boy lost that needs every mother in the country to share a little bit of their love with him.

paddyann Mon 07-Aug-17 15:38:44

Azie09 the benefit of a president is we can VOTE them out,we're stuck with these parasites .There are a majority of countries with a president that works exceptionally well for them...but people here only tell you about the bad ones.Iam a republican ,I dont believe an aristocracy is needed or relevant in the 21st century its a mediaeval concept and we really should move into the century we live in.Boils my blood when these eegits get feted and adored while millions of people struggle daily...THE Windsors or whatever their REAL name is are just people ,let them get real jobs and keep their own families stop the massive rises to them that could and should be spent on the PEOPLE of the country ...you know all those old people who cant afford to eat properly or heat their homes

Bulimia is another thing difficult for someone to understand if they haven't suffered form it; she must have had a severe problem with self worth for it to have happened. She must have desperately wanted to feel desired, given that her husband preferred another and maybe to steal someone elses husband makes the achievement greater. Also there was less chance of the relationships giving Charles cause to divorce her given that they were probably never going to lead to anything permanent [just thinking out loud, by the way]. I had eating disorders throughout my marriage caused, probably by the fact that my husband put me down most of the time, although, thankfully, I never had full blown anorexia or bulimia. I've always said that Diana is the patron saint of dysfunctional women everywhere; she's certainly mine, anyway. Oh, and I do agree with Ana; she wasn't beautiful...then again, if you look at old Top of the Pops programmes, the 'look' of the time wasn't what would be regarded as beautiful now; maybe a 'chicken and egg' situation, though. And, she did have an inner beauty that shone through. Either way, she and Charles were probably the most mis matched people ever personality wise, although sometimes people so opposite to each other do have happy marriages so, perhaps there was a slim chance that it might have worked for them both.

Sheilasue Mon 07-Aug-17 15:37:41

It's sad to think that someone so young could have fallen for him. When you look at some of his friends for instance, they were pretty awful.
Apparantly hesaid something along the line that as he was the prince of wales he was expected to have a mistress, think Camilla wasn't the only one. Rather old fashioned point of view.
Let's hope the boys are happier in life and William in his marriage. Think Diania did a good job with them.

gillybob Mon 07-Aug-17 15:35:18

I couldn't disagree with you more as I think she actually saved the monarchy pollyperkins.

nigglynellie Mon 07-Aug-17 15:34:41

That's just the thing though, why was she in that car, that night knowing full well the paparazzi were waiting at every exit, against the advice of her security men, and using a driver they knew to be drunk?!!! he was off duty, so no reason not to have a drink, but still they made him drive; ( you didn't say 'no' to Dodi!) when they had a luxury apartment in the Ritz, which the family owned, so they didn't need to go anywhere until the morning where they could have organised their journey to keep the news hounds at bay. It doesn't make a grain of sense and cannot be blamed on Prince Charles. As for the phone conversations - they were private and should be respected as such, not plastered all over this forum or anywhere else. Pretty horrible thing to do really!

marionk Mon 07-Aug-17 15:34:31

Of course she lied! Anyone having flings for whatever reason lies.

gillybob Mon 07-Aug-17 15:33:48

I don't think she was all that beautiful - there, I've said it!

You are joking Ana ? surely? Well I think she was stunning and so graceful too.

Aaahhhumm (clearing throat) Anniebach I'm not one of those conspiracy theorists who think the royals bumped her off away from British soil just in case it was true that she was pregnant with Dodi AlFayed's baby. shock

and do people wear seat belts in the back of limousines merlot? (well okay they might do now).

pollyperkins Mon 07-Aug-17 15:32:53

The whole situation was tragic for both of them and its a great pity it's all been raked up again. I feel very sorry for Charles who was not allowed to marry his one true love Camilla but was sent to sea (so that she married Parker Bowles. ) Then he was instructed to find and marry a suitable virgin and do his duty to provide heirs. Diana was totally unsuitable, too young, emotionally damaged and unstable . How can people complain about Charles being unfaithful with Camilla when Diana had 6 or 7 lovers that we know - I dont understand it! But she was pretty and charismatic and wrapped people round her little finger whilst manipulating the press and doing her best to ruin the monarchy ( and very nearly succeeded. ). I couldn't stand her and think Charles with Camilla to support him (as Diana never would have) will make an intelligent and thoughtful King. Yes, he made mistakes when he was young (haven't we all?) but he's done a lot of good work too and is now in a very difficult position. Anyway it seems that Diana is now working her old magic from beyond the grave and mainipulating peoples emotions all over again. I despair!

Ana Mon 07-Aug-17 15:28:38

I agree, merlot.

devongirl Mon 07-Aug-17 15:26:40

I remember I was in the US when Charles and Camilla married - TV showed the wedding to Diana immediately after!!

merlotgran Mon 07-Aug-17 15:25:00

She would probably still be alive if she'd worn a seatbelt!

GoldenAge Mon 07-Aug-17 15:16:29

Agree with most of these comments - Charles acted absolutely disgracefully as did Camilla. She could have discouraged him knowing his figurehead position as a future king. Couldn't believe how the country celebrated their marriage - short memories. Diana was humiliated by the royal family and whilst not a royalist at all, she showed a humanity that made me sorry she had to experience an early death and leave her sons behind. If Charles had treated her with respect, and given the love she deserved, she would never have been in that car and still alive. We have much to say about politicians who behave immorally, so why not about royals who do the same? relationship

Jalima1108 Mon 07-Aug-17 15:14:03

Well, I wouldn't have minded being that un-beautiful grin

Anniebach Mon 07-Aug-17 15:07:10

Gilly, only Manakee died in a motor cycle accident. Yes Brian Adams ? Why wasn't Hewitt bumped off,she use to spend weeks ends with him st his mothers house.

Why didn't she have a car crash all the times she drove to Stratford ?

Ana Mon 07-Aug-17 15:05:12

I don't think she was all that beautiful - there, I've said it! grin

henetha Mon 07-Aug-17 15:03:36

I totally agree with nigglynellie on this.

Anniebach Mon 07-Aug-17 15:03:20

I didn't watch the programme niggly , the nonsense that she chose bulimia to self harm so not to hurt others, and all the talk of her suffering over losing her lover Manakee , Mrs Manakee and her children suffered far more, and it must have hurt Mrs Manakee than Diana openly criticised the choice of place where his ashes were scattered .

Plus there is no excuse for the lashing out at
Tiggy because the two sons adored her and their mother was jealous .

This was the saintly Diana , everything was everyone else's fault, never, ever herd.

gillybob Mon 07-Aug-17 15:02:54

James Hewitt, Oliver Hoare , Will Carling, James Gilby, Hasnar Khan, Brian Adams survived

But how many died Anniebach it reads like something from Henry 8th times.

Brian Adams did you say? Brian Adams as in "everything I do I do for yooooo" ? Well slap me all over with a wet fish. I had no idea..... Brian Adams..... eh?

Not surprised mind you, as she was very beautiful and could probably have her pick of most men. Why the heck did she pick charlie farlie? [shaking head emoticon]

Cherrytree59 Mon 07-Aug-17 14:55:28

I nearly didn't.
Just spotted Jane's post last night on GN but had missed quite a bit.

Afraid I already did not like Charles.

Starlily 'A would be Tampax on the throne with Cami- knickers as Queen. shock

I think that this TV programme was most likely aired to remind people of the royal antics and hopefully halt the public acceptance of Camilla becoming Queen.

nigglynellie Mon 07-Aug-17 14:53:33

Bud, Charles can't be bypassed thank goodness, he would have to abdicate and nothing can make him do that, again, thank goodness.
