I have just caught up with the new series. Several of the families have new sofas, do they get them from the sponsors? Some series ago, lots of the participants had new puppies/dogs. Is there a theme, or is it mandatory to have a change. I'm sure one family is on furniture set no. three? Not that I'm counting you see. Hair do's are changing, cut short, or not coloured. Sad I know, nothing better to do, better go and finish my new sofa cushions.

I love them on Gogglebox but Lord, they're dreary in RL

I liked the Clacton lady's less than awestruck, and slightly exasperated, comment on the report that scientists have shown how two stars collided and merged so many billion years ago:

"Why are they bringing it up now then?"

I don't think Giles is at all boring - he has a very dry sense of humour.

Moocow Fri 20-Oct-17 23:13:19

Tonight's was back on form so so funny with a bit of tension (Liar) and Giles last word, just brilliant!

Katek Fri 20-Oct-17 23:00:57

I was in abs fits tonight (quite inappropriately I must admit) when the news segment was on about the young man who inadvertently swallowed the Dover sole. He has rather a pronounced overbite and somebody quipped that they were surprised the fish had got past his teeth! I shouldn't have laughed but it was very funny. grin

MissAdventure Fri 20-Oct-17 22:44:12

I like the two ladies from Bristol. smile

Chris definitely has the dachshunds - we always used to watch him on Gogglebox because we knew him as a child as he lived in the next street and was in the year above my daughter at primary school. My favourites by far are Giles and Mary though!

BlueBelle Fri 20-Oct-17 22:34:40

I am so glad Dom and Steph are no longer in it as they were a couple I couldn’t stand they have their own programme now so I needn’t watch any more, but most of the others are good
Giles always calls Mary nutty but I m sure I heard Mary call Giles nutty in tonight’s episode
I think my favourites are definitely Jenny and Lee they go together so well maybe because he’s gay so no tension but they seem really good friends Stephen is hilarious and I like June and Leon too

Auntieflo Fri 20-Oct-17 22:33:30

Has 'the other one' Chris, got marreid recently? Steve and his mum are in a different home, and he has his poodles.

merlotgran Fri 20-Oct-17 22:25:01

I'm never sure which one is Chris and which is Steve but the dachshunds belong to the other one. grin

petra Fri 20-Oct-17 22:15:04

I thought the best line of night was when Giles said that Simon Rimmer (strictly) looked like a sex tourist last Saturday.

phoenix Fri 20-Oct-17 21:43:26

What happened to the dachshunds?

valeriej43 Sun 15-Oct-17 09:23:36

I love Gogglebox, Giles is so straight faced, and i can imagine being very boring, Mary wears the most peculiar clothes,
I like the welsh couple,
I have noticed all the different furniture and new dogs
Never noticed anyone had a facelift though [Who?]
I liked Steph and Dom too,
One of my favourite programmes
I read somewhere they get £1000 a month, whether that is each or per house i dont know

merlotgran Sun 15-Oct-17 09:20:42

Am I the only one who thinks the young man in the couple (replacement for Rev Kate and her husband?) looks just like Ron Mael from Sparks circa 1974?

Moocow Sun 15-Oct-17 09:11:10

Jenny and lee yes I agree but it's Jenny really as sometimes he is too scathing about her remarks or not knowing something. Not keen at all on stephen and his mum.

Nannacat Sat 14-Oct-17 22:04:16

I watch this when I need a laugh I love Jenny and Lee in the caravan and Stephen with his Mum . Stephen is hilarious . Should have his own show .

Mapleleaf Wed 27-Sept-17 09:40:36

I agree with you Bluebelle.
I'm relatively new to watching it and used to think the same nina, but came across it one time into the last series and kept it on because I didn't feel like going to bed and there was nothing else of interest to me on tv. Well, it had me in hysterics - even though I don't even watch most of the programmes they were commenting on. Their observations are so dry at times, and so funny (even when they don't realise they're being funny). It makes light relief from all the gloom and doom.

merlotgran Mon 25-Sept-17 20:44:47

Must be a bit of a squash in that caravan grin

Daddima Mon 25-Sept-17 19:21:28

I heard on the radio that they visit the houses and film people watching a number of recorded programmes, sending them off to change clothes between programmes!

midgey Wed 20-Sept-17 13:36:57

Pretty sure Mary writes for the Guardian too.

glammanana Wed 20-Sept-17 09:36:53

Petra The term "guilty" is used as a term of endearment really as this is not the type of programme which grabs my attention normally.

Auntieflo Wed 20-Sept-17 08:26:47

Mary writes a column in 'The Lady' magazine.

Grandma2213 Tue 19-Sept-17 23:08:27

Juliette Thanks for the link. If Mary really wrote this she has another career in writing (or maybe she has already!)

I just love the way Giles and Mary have such obvious affection for each other as do Leon and June and the Welsh couple. I think the way the families and friends react with each other is so much more fun to watch than the programmes they are actually viewing.

petra Mon 18-Sept-17 13:30:53

Can anyone explain why they use the word 'guilty' when referring to a television programme?
If you like it what does it matter what other people think.
I can't imagine Judith Keppel defending her love of East Enders.

Juliette Mon 18-Sept-17 12:56:25

This has got to be my guilty pleasure for sure, some of the original cast have gone on to do other things on TV,Scarlet Moffet and Sandy appeared on Celebrity BB &Steph &Dom with their appearances on some daytime shows good on them for making a start on a career from such an easy concept
