Changing viewing habits?

In my 'yoof' I used to watch police / crime dramas. but I also find them too 'strong' now. I tend to enjoy history, art and music programmes most now. Good that in this regard DH and I have the same tastes. We both have 'trash TV' that we enjoy - his seems to be WW11 / sheds and salvage based (!) whilst for me it is cooking / some quiz shows - as long as the questions are not based at 'moron' level.'

We watch far too much telly but are usually tired by the end of the day and glad to sit and be entertained for a while. Hate anything which shows cruelty-mental or physical. The good book says to dwell on good things (paraphrased!).
I like to watch things like Strictly after recording so I can whizz through the repetition and just watch the dancing.

I enjoy watching anything that has a good story or a psychological/supernatural aspect. I watched Doctor Foster, Liar, The Loch to name three and suspended disbelief as well as picked out discrepancies.

I also enjoy programmes as diverse as 'Who Do You Think You Are', 'Gogglebox', 'Emmerdale' and 'Coronation Street'. I think, because they are about human lives which are fascinating in whatever genre.

Documentaries eg Robson Green around the Coast of Britain and Brian Cox or Horizon Programmes about the Universe are good viewing to me but also anything that looks at life outside the norm such as the Psychiatrist's Chair (I think it is called) or autopsy programmes about deceased celebrities. To me they all give insight into the human condition.

By the way I also love the 'X Files' .

Maybe I watch too much telly!

I watched that, travelsafar; those Scottish farmers came across as such lovely people and they don't have an easy life.

I enjoy a good drama but also love progs which show nature, travel and anything to do with steam trains or the railway. Where that has come from i dont know!!! Currently enjoying This Farming Life. We lived on farms when i was a child but they were no where as beautiful as the ones i see on this program which is set in Scotland.

I had to give up on the latest scandi noir on BBC4 (Black Lake?) because I was too scared after half an hour.

I don't like psychological dramas and there seem to be so many of them on TV now. Some of them are downright distasteful - the recent Top of the Lake, to name but one. I do like things to have credibility, and gave up watching the second series of Dr Foster because it was ludicrous. I was never averse to a bit of sex, blood and gore, but now I am eschewing DS's offer of a lend of his 'Game of Thrones' box set because I know, from things I have heard, that it will turn my stomach, although I have read all the books (they didn't leave much to the imagination)! I think I'm just getting old..... bring back Douglas Fairbanks and a bit of good clean swash and buckle!
