I caught the second part of this programme. Missed Roberta Flack (I too love that song), but saw some of my more ‘recent’ favourites ie Norah Jones and Rumer. Might have a look on catch up to see the rest of it.

I had my DGC for the day on Wednesday. I found a list of the songs/music requested on Uncle Mac's Children's Favourites and got Alexa to play them. The GC loved them, particularly The Runaway Train and Donald Where's Your Trousers!

We usually watch TOTP 2 on Friday night and then often find some 'oldie' music on iplayer later in the evening.

In the mid 70s, my first teenage job was working in a coffee kiosk in the lounge of an hotel. there was piped music - lots and lots of Burt Baccarach hits. At the time I remember thinking they were dated and twee. Now I love them and think what a talented man he is. I loved seeing his Glastonbury gig last year.

I should have added, on radio 2.

On a Friday at 7 in the evening TonyBackburn (that golden oldie? ) plays hits from the 50s, 60s and 70s. DH and I listen while we have dinner.

I love that record. It reminds me of my parents as Mum loved it too, it reminded her of Dad.
Must admit, music like this isn't a forgotten pleasure for me as I listen to the old stuff all the time. Our own DVDs, Gold, ToTP2. OK, it could be construed as living in the past but so much better than much of the current music which doesn't seem very musical to me.

Rare evening on my own yesterday and came across a BBC 'Easy Listening' (repeat) programme - full of musical gems from the 50s-70s. This was the best of the best to my mind, pure class:
