Can't find the old thread.

How silly the Matt storyline is - like the Rob storyline it is OTT. No-one is as villainous as Matt is being portrayed - they have just made him a stereotype of evil and it is ridiculous. I have never met anyone who encapsulates evil to this degree.

Stop it now you crazy scriptwriters and give as some storylines that reflect real life.

Isn't it good that Will is going to the funeral?

Well done Jill for telling it like it is to Shula.

When is Brian going to fess up to the family? - they are going to be so mad.

Elrel Mon 19-Mar-18 13:06:03

Lucky - yes, that was beautifully and sensitively handled by the sw. Also it gave Shula an opportunity to do something positive, drawing on her own sad position when Mark died. I still want to know who that long gone hit and run driver was!!

We've got time-bombs to keep us listening. Brian's confession to the family and, far more worrying, poor Will's reaction to Nic's last words. IRL I hope Joe would have kept that to himself as knowing it will do no one any good.

I wonder if Adam will follow Debbie to Hungary? Didn't she once say she could set up a job for him?

Should four year old Poppy be going to the funeral?

Lazigirl Mon 19-Mar-18 14:29:18

I think that it is OK for a 4 year old to go to a funeral of a close relative, providing they have an adult with them that they trust, can explain things sensitively to them, and similarly answer any questions they have. Most children of 4 have much more awareness about what is going on than some adults would credit them with. I do think that it depends on individual circumstances, but perhaps children need this ceremony to say goodbye as much as adults?

My granddaughter, when aged 2, went to the 'celebration of the life' of her great-granny; but this was more of a social occasion, no body in a coffin disappearing behind curtains. She thought it was a party but was disappointed that there were no balloons! However, this wasn't someone very close to her.

I am totally confused about what GGMK2 is complaining about on this recent post. What have I missed?

I listen regularly and enjoy TA . I do know it is not real. I moan about the characters and often shout at them while I am eating my dinner.
But it is fiction and far better written than Eastenders etc.
I am probably an addict.

The worst moment was when Helen (the aftermath pf stabbing of Rob ) episode on the Monday night. Helen was so distressed at and is total panic after stabbing Rob.
I was so shaken listening to that I had to park up and stop my journey up to choir.

It’s up to parents whether children attend funerals. The days when the belief that ‘protecting’ small children by not including them in the service or discussions about death are thankfully in the past. I share Lazigirls views on this.

Perhaps it’s a bit quiet on the politics threads, nellie wink

MawBroon Tue 20-Mar-18 18:02:24

Molehill? Mountain?

Culag Tue 20-Mar-18 19:56:05

I’ve just had a thought, where was Alice when Matt was run over? Was she driving over the limit and Nic was covering up for her?

GracesGranMK2 Tue 20-Mar-18 19:59:57

Interesting thought Culag. That would make a bit of sense of Alice seeing her as a friend too.

Elrel Tue 20-Mar-18 22:08:33

The words 'sense' and 'Alice' don't seem to belong in the same sentence lately. There's certainly something up with her. I thought she might be having a fling with the man at work that she was complaining about.

silverlining48 Tue 20-Mar-18 22:16:04

I have been wondering the very same thing elrel.

MawBroon Tue 20-Mar-18 23:22:53

Drink problem certainly.

Some peoples posts on this thread are (IMO) rather offensive and missing the point of the fact that this is supposed to be a light hearted thread about a radio soap that many "get involved" in but ALL know it's not real!

Humph! Little wonder i don't often post these days, and as for threats/invitations to report, well, I'm [shocked] and a bit [angry}

phoenix Wed 21-Mar-18 00:40:40

Bugger, messed up the "smileys" somehow, double humph!

Chewbacca Wed 21-Mar-18 01:06:21

But we know what you meant Phoenix! grin

GracesGranMK2 Wed 21-Mar-18 07:42:01

You are a critical lot. I did not use the word "sense" in connection with Alice but in connection with the script Elrel.

Yet again Phoenix you appear to be attacking my post, if not mine someone else's. I take my "Archers" fairly seriously. I am totally allowed to do that and do not need your rudeness or your permission to do so. Threads are what the totality of posters make them not what one or two people dictate.

Post or don't post but do not attack people - that is certainly not what GN purports to be about and doesn't extend our enjoyment of the Archers which, I would have thought, might define the intention of this thread.

And there's Chewbacca coming in at the end, also prepared to attack another member rather than talk about the Archers. Thanks guys. I can't see how that has adds to anyone's enjoyment and the personal attacks will be reported if you continue as they certainly don't add to mine.

MawBroon Wed 21-Mar-18 08:38:10

Excuse me!
GGMK2 have you read what you have just posted?
The bit about attacking individuals?
post or don’t post but don’t attack individuals
And where you lash out at Phoenix, Elrel and Chewbacca not forgetting Merlotgran yesterday?
I am sure there is a quotation somewhere about taking one’s own advice. hmm

Iam64 Wed 21-Mar-18 08:44:17

Oh my very dear! You got there before me MawB, thankfully.

Chewbacca Wed 21-Mar-18 08:44:41

I attacked you GracesGranMK2? I haven't addressed you, nor have I responded to any one of your posts! I simply remarked that I understood that Phoenix had tried to put smiley faces on her post and failed, but I recognised that she'd tried.
Feel free to read this post as a personal attack and if you want to report it: fill your boots!

GracesGranMK2 Wed 21-Mar-18 08:48:26

Of course you did Chewbacca.

GracesGranMK2 Wed 21-Mar-18 08:50:29

I am sure there is a quotation somewhere about taking one’s own advice.

I am sure there is Maw - did you do that?

GracesGranMK2 Wed 21-Mar-18 08:57:49

I do apologise. I now realise that some people think that they own this thread and comments can only be made if approved of by them otherwise they may suggest you are sent to Mumnet to be attacked (presumably to save them the trouble - although it doesn't)

All I said was I don't understand why people listen to the Archers if they are so extremely critical of the characters. That is my opinion. You may not share it but I am allowed to hold it. I do not understand why people need something to complain about rather than enjoy.

Now you can go back to going off topic completely and using me as your punch bag instead.

phoenix Wed 21-Mar-18 08:58:49

I wonder what the possible side effects of taking too much umbrage might be?
